Yeah, I was going to say they've gotten Overwatch to the point where it's probably in a good spot now.

I lost my game at LGT getting overwatched five rounds in a row, which was kind of lame.

but um you know it's back to a better spot uh but um yeah i think that was a welcome change i think you know i played a lot of only shooting armies and i played a lot of only combat armies and i've lived on both sides of the spectrum of just overwatching people five turns of the game and that being a strategy to rely on which it's not really a great game design balance um i think one thing i wanted to talk about was uh a public service announcement.

There is a really big divide, and we'll probably get to this when we talk about the two new codexes, but there is a huge divide of have and have-nots with this bonus CP at the start of the battle round.

It doesn't make any sense why if you're playing Orcs or you're playing Space Marines or your faction has the codex that... for some reason you just get one bonus cp every battle round baked in that doesn't make sense to me and it was dramatically clear in some of the games i played in the weekend where it was like okay my opponent is playing the same army but they just start with more cp that just doesn't that just doesn't make sense so i really hope i was really disappointed to see that they didn't build that into every faction because we're already at a point where it's pretty impactful you know like just getting cp every time and a game where scoring is so high as well which is very problematic in my opinion too uh rand will be over in a second but uh getting bonus cp is even more important because you don't have to discard secondary cards to get your bonus cp that you would otherwise need right so it's actually even more impactful than it would otherwise seem because you don't have to ever discard a card which is problematic as well i don't you know you should be limited to two even discarding your cards at the end of the turn for goodness sake would be better than the current state we're in so let us know what your thoughts are down below i'm curious to see what people think um i think it's this high scoring and stuff is getting a little bit old at the moment

dave can i share my thoughts on this cp thing because i i actually think there's a wider thing going on through 10th edition into 11th edition with the um The way that a lot of the core rules have become a bit homogenized, they've all become a little bit similar.

There's a thing where there was a point where only certain armies had access to even a plus one CP at all.

It was a very privileged thing to have that as a rule that then you would benefit from in compensation for other sides of weakness.

And now everyone has access to, you know, fallback, shoot, advance, shoot, advance, charge, plus one CP, et cetera, et cetera.

What I, you know, I would love if everyone who did have plus one CP had the same kind of rule.

But what I don't want to see is everyone getting access to plus one CP and I would still like there to be a little bit of differentiation, which, you know, these codexes we're seeing, there is a lot of marginalization of the rules, for better or for worse.

It helps with balance, but at the same time, it does make armies maybe lose some of their identity if it continues.

Well, where do we get to? Do we get to the point at the end of the, in six months time where, eight months time where everyone has the codex and everyone gets plus one CP? That's what I don't understand because that's just completely, I think, which is your point.

It dilutes the game design space where everyone has that given out for free, right? Like that doesn't make sense.

And if you look at the Space Marines codex and the Orc codex, the bonus one CP is not baked in in any points cost whatsoever, right? If, like, for example, I think even, like, a Lieutenant or something like that has the bonus 1 CP tag on it, you know? It's not just limited to, like, minus Kalgar or Gilliman or something, you know? It's, like, I think, like, 20 datasheets have that ability.

It just seems completely... unspecial and you know if you were playing for example so demons have no access to that apart from Kairos on like a 7up or something like that right or you know guard has to play Leontes or something right you know it just seems that it's so bizarre that they've baked in this ability which is generic it's it's weird it would be different if every army had advanced and charge for example baked in because it would only affect it wouldn't affect tau as much as someone else right but bonus one bonus cp is both players use cp every game right so you really understand when your opponent is just getting free cp every turn and you're not because that's something that you would like as well you know Whereas maybe if I was playing guard, you know, advance and charge wouldn't be as relevant, for example, or what say you, right? So it's annoying because it's currency that we both have and someone just gets it for free, which is terrible game design.
