Before everything and before the big challenge that we're gonna jump into, what was it like growing up every day for you when you were a little kid before, before the adventures?
Yeah, I guess growing up, you know, very, very standard childhood, um, from the northeast of England, N- Newcastle.
Was always very active growing up, um, probably borderline ADHD, I would argue on reflection now.
Uh, could never sit still.
Would, would always be out and about playing every sport I could get my hands on, but quickly sort of fell in love with, with running and, and athletics and cross-country.
And, you know, running's really trending at the minute.
Ev- everyone is, is really into their running.
But back when I was sort of eight, nine, 10 years old, it certainly wasn't the cool thing to do, and everyone was playing football, and I'd be out there doing cross-countries on a Saturday.
So, um, it's something that I've always, always loved to do.
Uh, and yeah, had a very standard childhood, um, living in, in Tynemouth in Newcastle.
Both parents very caring and, and looking after me and, and my brother throu- throughout our childhood.
So yeah, I would, I would sit- argue quite, quite a straightforward standard childhood.

And what, what drew you into the running then rather than the football and, uh, all the other sort of traditional sports growing up?
Yeah, I guess my, my dad's probably a big influence on that because he-- although he did play a lot of football himself, he sort of started to get into running in his 40s, and that would've been when I was about 10, 9 or 10.
And he was going to running club and things like that, and I used to just go along and do the kids section, and then I would do a park run on a weekend or...
And yeah, I think I just, just enjoyed the sort of the grind, enjoyed the, the sort of everyday trying to better yourself, chasing times.
And I think naturally I was actually quite, quite decent at it younger.
I mean, I don't wanna blow my own trumpet.

And what did it mean to you before the challenge existed, like running? What did it mean to you in your life? Was it an outlet, a habit, or just something that you thought, "My dad's doing it"-
Yeah
Probably a little bit of both.
