The more I do this show and the more I speak to people, uh, the more I realize it's like, um, it's like a, a, it's, it's a channel of freedom of expression, right? It's like, you know, not many jobs or, like, regular day-to-day things that are gonna pay your rent, your mortgage, your family, whatever, like, are encouraging you to, to express yourself freely.
Oh, you're right.
I know, I know, like, I would s- I've, yeah, you wanna have the amount of time, maybe almost too much time to just kinda sit there and, like, write things down and run about your room like a headless chicken not doing anything.
Like, I would be in, like, Morrison stacking shelves, and I was always running away through the back to the fridges to, like, just write loads of things down, like big paragraphs on my notes, um, whether it was, like, songwriting or just ideas or concepts.
Um, so now not being in the fridges in Morrisons-
... just do it in my bedroom.
Uh, it's like, it's, it actually becomes harder when you've not got anything else to do.
Do you know what I mean? See, when you've got a lot of free time outwith the band and stuff, it's like trying to fill that time with productive things is, can be quite a challenge, I find, you know.
Especially when you've got the highs and lows of, like, touring.
You're away doing, like, two months of, like, madness.
And then you get back to nothing.
Like, s- silence can be quite deafening.
You know what I mean?
Well, that's why I go back to the pub, eh.
It's all very well doing all the festivals, but g- go back to the pub and-
Need something to keep you busy
... get shitted out and get called a, a wee baldy asshole-
... 'cause I'm not pouring my pint quick enough.
You know, uh, it brings you back, doesn't it?
It humbles you.
