Yeah, and you learn something from everything you do.

And that's why when we put this cast together, you don't know what the chemistry is going to be between all of you.

You just kind of pick individuals and then all of a sudden to see the family happen is so gratifying.

And from day one, and I think either Dennis or David said it, but I think part of the success is the struggle to overcome all the hurdles and and uh you know it it's something if you if you verbalized it people would say oh it's impossible you couldn't have done that show you know and uh i i just think it's it it just it i will never forget it and i will think of it in in such a positive way because all of you

I remember Jim, the blonde, yeah.

Yeah, exactly.

And, you know, Jim was very supportive.

Um, so can you take us a little bit back to the beginning? How did you first get into television and directing?

All right.

It's an interesting story, actually.

Uh, when I grew up in Los Angeles, I lived next door to a huge city park, and that's where I spent most of my time.

Uh, depending upon the sports season, I brought my baseball glove or my football or whatever, and, uh, came home from school, uh, had my milk and, and, uh, Ritz crackers, and headed for the park.

We had a rule in my house that, uh, 7:00 was dinner time, and we had to be home on the dot.

And, uh, we ate as a family at the dinner table.
