Amazing.
33:09
Stephen? I think it's useful to think of it as like a form of communication.
33:15
It's like the house itself, like in my novella, for example, is trying to convey something to the people that live in it.
33:24
And most of the time, the kind of phenomena that you would see in a haunted house, like Dan's just said then, it does tend to escalate slowly, whether it's the real life accounts or novels, it's got that kind of arc.
33:36
um but uh to go back to uh minor value the methods of communication it's kind of trying to navigate how that can be done how a supposed inanimate object in a house can get a message across whether it's stay or go um and obviously in in my example that they it wants them to stay but it's trying to give the characters something that it thinks that they want and so the phenomena escalates in it attempting to give these characters what it thinks that what they want what they need uh what's missing in their life essentially um and that kind of escalation in the communication is what i think provides that kind of gradual sense of unease that unsettling atmosphere that i think you mentioned before and that's how you kind of build up to the events that are kind of like the big ticket events you know you've got the right suddenly there's there's a written message on a window for example or something along those lines a big moment so it's kind of escalates then it hits so i think yeah communicate as a method of communication i think is really useful as a kind of craft idea

Grace, Stephen, any thoughts?
73:25
Just regarding attics and basements or cellars, they're often, I think, slightly piggybacking on what Chris was saying before.
73:35
It's where you kind of stuff all the forgotten things or the things you haven't got the space for in the more lived-in parts of the house.
14:57
Oh, okay.
14:58
I, uh, I, I lived in a little town called Salinas, California.
15:04
And, uh, that, you know, that's the latest capital of the world.
15:07
And, uh, my dad lived there.
15:09
He played country and Western music there for 30 something years.
15:12
And, uh, Anyway, he had a job during the day and at night he would sing at the nightclubs.
15:19
But during the day, he had a job with a trucking company called Wilsey Bennett.
