So tell me about how you think about leadership in private practice in general.
9:03
I think that there's a misnomer right now in the private practice world that you can like get a checklist, take a course, get a business license, get all the things that you need and you can run a successful private practice.
9:14
And like I've seen the evolution into this in the six years since COVID particularly when it seems to have like swept people into the counseling field and private practice in particular.
9:24
And I don't think that there's a lot of awareness around this sort of like what I call the intersection of like where the business and the therapeutic work kind of align or connect.
9:35
You can't just like set up your SOPs in your system and get all your money stuff in order and expect to be successful.
9:41
There's like work that happens within our client relationships even that addresses this kind of like business dimension or leadership dimension.
9:50
And I often find that therapists just don't know how to deal with that.

24:06
What do you get really jazzed about when it comes to leadership?
14:27
that happened a couple years in
14:29
well and then I would say the biggest shift I think for me and maybe for you we've talked about this but you know, we are about five years in and we're taking Lindsay's money skills for group practice owners class course.
14:39
And we're so proud of the fact that we have this like 96% staff retention, right? We've like lost no staff in our first five years.
14:46
Anyone really has left.
14:48
And we were, overly generous like our sort of philosophy at the time was like give them everything they want to make them happy and keep them stick just like so they'll stay and Lindsay was like your staff retention rate is too high you are giving away too much yeah and it was one of those moments where we were like oh like that is such a reframe for us and I think that being in that course and like being able to look at our actual money and financial situation and how our decisions were so profoundly emotional and so ungrounded in any data or dollars was really, I think, from like a more tangible standpoint, a real shift where we were like, oh, we can, we have to make decisions differently now, knowing what we know and knowing that like people are going to leave.
15:35
Like we consider ourselves a bit of a training center here.
15:38
Most people The baseball metaphor is that most people come up through the minor leagues.

14 MINS LATER

29:43
Do you think therapists typically over-index on the over-caring?
9:12
Can you say that again?
9:14
Yeah, like I think, okay, well, why don't we get into introducing the speakers? Yes.
9:18
Actually, let's do that.
9:19
Let's do that.
9:20
Okay, yeah.
9:20
I mean, I think that, okay, so Cecilia and I, obviously, will be speaking at the conference.
9:29
Where's our baby? Yes, exactly.

16 MINS LATER

25:43
And then the super fun part of it is that it actually is going to come with some coaching sessions, right? So it is going the VIP really is going to be an actual higher level experience for the summit.
