Has capitalism failed Gen Z?
41:03
Yeah, and I mean, it's kind of the obvious one we've talked about a lot.
41:09
It feels like a little bit ad nauseum at this point as a movement, but obviously the different affordability issues right now, mainly with housing, healthcare, student loan debt, has contributed to this in terms of pausing for the economic conditions that are making people look for an alternative to our existing somewhat free market, not entirely free market, but somewhat free market system described by my friend Reem from the Reason Foundation as the status quo on our panel.
41:45
But there's another element that I want to get at that I think doesn't get discussed as much, which has been a long game, I think, throughout our lifetimes of normalizing socialism writ large.
42:00
It became An internet phenomenon, kind of a joke and a meme in the first point on social media and things like YouTube and stuff.
42:10
It was really popularized by Bernie's campaign in 2016, just saying, oh, we just want health care.
42:17
That's socialism.

53:20
And I think that is one way we are really working very, very hard to combat this loss of historical knowledge because it's it's here right now we just haven't elevated the stories enough i think
22:31
What do you write?
22:33
Yeah, thanks so much for having me on, Cabot.
22:36
I think that the conversation around flock right now has been so weighed down in what are reasonable discussions around limits on government.
22:47
But it's really missing the fact of the matter that most of the backlash so far has been instances of vandalism.
22:53
and political campaigns completely against the concept of policing.
22:58
I think that is completely misaligned with libertarian principles.
23:02
Libertarians do believe in a limited government that plays an essential role in public safety.
25:22
Why should we make it easier for them to follow us? What do you say to those people?
8:12
as you know unsurprisingly a lot of electricity um so let's let's take let's start with that let's start with the negatives why are these in your opinion i mean correct me if i'm wrong maybe maybe i'm i'm wrong and you have a more nuanced take on this but but why do you think these um complaints or these fears are overblown i
8:33
think that they're overblown because Look, when you look, you have to break down each of them.
8:39
I think that the water concerns and the noise concerns, there's been a lot of just untrue information pervading this conversation.
8:50
The water claims have been mostly disproven.
8:52
We've seen all sorts of funny posts, you know, almond consumption uses up more water than data centers at this point.
9:01
It's not to say that it couldn't become a concern in the future if we're building a thousand times as many data centers, but I guarantee simultaneously with building more, they're going to become smaller and more efficient.
9:13
So that's not going to happen.

35:12
It's a noble profession.
