Uh, what does that look like? Are you dragging a first year [chuckles] and making them, you know, do jury selection or argue in front of a judge in, in their first couple of months of a firm?

We would definitely throw them into uncomfortable situations, but never unsupervised [chuckles] and never without any guidance from us.

But if you're young, you're first or you're second year, you're still definitely going to trial.

You're probably either, uh, third chairing a trial, second chairing a trial.

You are likely to be doing opening statement as a first or second year and taking a witness, and then the more senior lawyers usually will take over selection and the more complex witnesses and closing.

Sometimes people surprise you.

So I feel like that worst thing happening, you know, that you... that prevents you from examining a witness or wanting to try something like that changes when, guess what? The worst thing just happened and it's okay, and I've now learned this skill set and I'm not as nervous the next time when that happens, and I'll be more ready.
