How did you go from like these, what I call games to more like predictions or betting or those types of things? When did that jump happen?
4:58
Yeah, so I think with chess and poker, a lot of the good high-stakes poker pros, they have backgrounds in chess, video games, strategy games, card games.
5:10
So I think there's a lot of similar characteristics that allows you to be successful in both.
5:18
So I think with chess and poker, like one of them would be like the ability to do like simple like calculations and computation.
5:28
One another one would be just like understanding strategy games.
5:33
Right.
5:33
What's kind of a optimal strategy? And then.

So maybe walk us through those early days of however you first got integrated into prediction markets from crypto.
6:21
But as a leader of the organisation in Cymru, in Wales, what are the challenges you have in the work that you do, particularly thinking in the context of trust and relationships?
6:33
Well, so I think I was thinking about this sort of in the run up today.
6:36
I think we we have trust as an important part of what we do in several different arenas.
6:43
So the most important one is that we we look after patients.
6:48
So everything we do in our operational work around events and supporting the NHS is about providing a response to a patient.
6:56
And patients have got to be able to trust patients.
6:58
the healthcare provider that comes to them because quite often being injured or unwell is a really disarming process because you suddenly go from being in complete control of what you're doing today to being reliant on somebody And more than that, being reliant on somebody that you've never met before.

15:15
Where are your biggest challenges in that space, would you say?
4:29
So talk about kind of that balance that your, your growers might have to, uh, manage.
4:35
Yeah.
4:35
Christina, first of all, I think it's, it's important to see that the government has changed their rhetoric as it relates to support for auto and EV, and there's now a focus on agriculture and even more importantly on controlled environment agriculture.
4:52
But first, it's important to recognize that the food security and experts, exports are not competing priorities.
4:59
In fact, they're closely connected.
5:01
Um, we export about 85% of the production that we grow here in Ontario.
5:08
Um, that, to put that into context, that's ap- approximately 300 trailer truckloads of fresh produce leaving our farms daily headed to the US and reaching consumers within one day's drive.

10:45
[laughs] Um, so talk about that and, and, you know, are there any key points you wanna share with, with folks that might be spanning the entire North American, uh, fresh produce industry?
Derek Vander WykCORRESPONDENT
35:43
Both towns have now changed their bylaws.
35:46
The light abatement issue has been an ongoing challenge, which I think our members have addressed.
35:52
They've implemented blackout curtains so that our residents can enjoy their properties, but they need to understand there is a trade-off, and that trade-off is the independence of food here in Canada.
Derek Vander WykCORRESPONDENT
36:05
Lee says the greenhouses supply Canada first, but there's also a lot of US demand.
36:11
Based on the amount of produce we grow and the population of Canada, we could feed Canadians about 10 times over.
36:19
So we really rely on trade access, and we export over 85% of the produce.
36:26
[gentle music]
4:14
Uh, perhaps you can first just tell us a little bit about you and, and what you've been doing.
4:18
Okay.
4:20
Uh, thanks very much, Sian.
4:21
It's a real pleasure to, to be here, uh, this evening.
4:25
And, and thanks for the invite to give me this, this opportunity.
4:28
Um, just a, a little bit about me.
4:31
I'm a professor of reproductive biology.
