It's like a shortcut
25:33
... precisely, yes.
25:35
Um, so I, but I had this one kid who was a, a really big 14-year-old boy.
25:42
He was on the, you know, he was on, in the rugby team for his age group.
25:46
And he said to me with a, with a kind of jovial, uh, disregard, uh, for my professional status, you know, "Sir, you will never make me interested in English because I'm not interested in it," you know.
25:56
And I, I remember saying to him, "I take that as a personal challenge." And, um, so I devised this lesson which was all about imagery and why we use it, and also how to create great metaphors and, and it was, the process was something like this: Uh, first of all, think of an object that means something to you, that means a lot to you personally, and then I want you to describe it simply, not using images, just what does it feel like, what does it smell like.
26:30
But what they had to do, the rule I gave them was in describing it, they had to search for something that was really honest about the meaning of that object to them, something that no one else has ever thought about it, not just, you know, that it's big or small.

Yeah.

So on the Monday night of the tournament week of the LA Open, I went down to the driving range, and in those days, the players had a shag bag with golf balls, and their caddies wore a baseball glove.
3:04
And they would be out in the range, and the players would hit shots, and they would get one hopped into the glove, and then they would be placed into the shag bag.
3:16
That's how accurate and how great these players truly were, where the caddie didn't have to move.
3:22
He knew where the ball...
3:22
You know.
3:23
And then when a player was gonna hit the next longer club, he would just go like this, and that meant go 10 yards farther back.

Right.
