when you're training your staff, how you talk about this idea of having appropriate expectations for the child or children that you're working with.
6:31
Yeah.
6:32
So that's so key because it always cracks me up when a counselor comes to me or to one of our other directors and is upset because they asked a group of eight-year-old boys to do something.
6:44
And shockingly, the eight-year-old boys didn't drop everything that they were doing and do exactly what the counselor said in the timing that the counselor asked for it.
6:55
And the counselor then gets really frustrated because their expectation of of what the camp or a group of campers is going to do did not match their experience.
7:03
And so they automatically like zero to a hundred with getting frustrated or angry.
7:09
And so we talk a lot about, I mean, we do all of the age characteristic stuff, you know, using resources that are available on what to expect from certain age groups.

18 MINS LATER

25:31
What do you, how do you get your counselors to calm?
24:16
Good policy.
24:18
Yeah.
24:19
I want to just really quickly go back to Andy.
24:21
You said something about kids being on medication vacations for the summer and just all of your faces lit up when he said that and you all nodded.
24:29
And I just, we don't call it an intake questionnaire or what do you call it at Ramacoy? The Well, we have a personality profile.
24:38
Okay.
24:40
We need to come up with a better name for ours.
25:00
And then the follow-up question
12:17
And then in terms of kind of what you did in that first year, now that we've noticed that we need to focus more on first-time families, what are some of the things that you do to prioritize that group?
12:29
So, and this is obviously I'm coming from an overnight camp experience and from an overnight camp experience where parents are not coming to my camp.
12:37
They're not coming to my camp for an open house.
12:40
They're not coming to my camp to drop their kid off or pick them up.
12:43
So the trust level is huge.
12:46
through the roof.
12:47
And so the building relationship piece is super important to us.

10 MINS LATER

22:20
So we just provide resources and the families know where to find it because they have their liaison who starts them through that whole process.
