I mean,

not that Moonshine University can necessarily be one that is supported as a brand, although they can, they could have via their classes and programming, their urban store program.

I think that people need to recognize that if you, you know, kind of like just turn your head to the left and stare at the big shiny brands, you're going to lose the ones to the right that, you know, you kind of probably wish you had, but you don't anymore.

But in the past, I wouldn't say we had to.

But, you know, when the power goes out, and there's no internet, work gets kind of tricky.

And there's no better time when you have literally on a layover, you have nothing to do, you know? So, so yeah, getting a couple of pours of something you haven't tried before is way better than being like, okay, give me a, give me a thing of makers.

I felt like I was just too busy.

Just caught up because our summers are always pretty busy and trying to get out and have as much fun as possible in between work.

So the short story version of this, some info came out on a case where a woman from out of state was driving through, pulled over and Her and the person in the car were arrested.

um is it just because there's so many uh on the wineries they're like we can't regulate all those or you know we'll make it a little relaxer flex i i don't know is there it's just weird

So that's my take.

And this, the Costco stuff, it's all kirkland branded is that the deal yeah yeah that's their brand kirkland bourbon so i i gotta think like uh well first of all it's obviously ridiculous but maybe it's a bit of a like in the same manner that folks kind of went crazy for that two buck chuck wine from trader joe for a while there's something about like you know it's costco and they're the thought is uh Not only am I getting like a massive amount of beef and the largest stack of cans of tuna, but I'm getting bourbon.

And hey, I heard it's pretty good.

It's like a novelty, I suppose.

Yeah, he got a point, especially like, you know, no shade anyone who might be in the know and is doing it for silly reasons.

I guess maybe there's a split, like a portion of the market or the buyers certainly are those who have heard, like, hey, this is actually good quality from Costco.

So this is a spot, um, just downstream of where I live, like maybe a 10-minute drive, called River Runners, and they're a rafting outfitter.

But over the years, like, they- they've got a bar there, and they have, like, a food truck, and they have a little, like, kind of built out beach area.

But over the years they've built it up, and it's really cool.

Like, it- I- if I have the opportunity, anybody visiting, I take them there 'cause, you know, it's like you can't beat it.

Like, hanging out on the river.

There's only one that they're actually talking about though, and I don't know if you guy- I don't think they get much farther outside of that region, but, uh, they're talking about black flies.

Like the mosquitoes aren't cool, but the black flies are fucking bad.

Um, like you actually have to, if you go outside, you need a head mosquito net to prevent-

You're like, "What the, what?"

It's weird, but it's also like it's super regionally relevant.

Like, there's a ton of beavers in that region, and the black flies.

Like, the amount of this cocktail mister that they're gonna sell to tourists that pass through-

And, uh, or it's about to be, if it's not already.

I think that's pretty interesting.

I would say, I mean, the distribution landscape in the US has become a disaster, uh, to say the least.

It's, that is the, uh, it's not even a whisper, within the industry, distilleries, distillery owners are, uh, commiserating about it, and no one else really knows what's happening.

And that's not to say there's not great distillers out there, but what this country implemented after prohibition is no longer working at all.

I mean, I guess I do.

I don't know that I thought it was stupid when I was a kid, but I would say I never... as a kid and even into my early twenties, I never really appreciated motorcycles.

Why would you want to do that? And I would say starting in my early thirties, I turned a corner and now it's absolutely one of my favorite things.

Yeah, pretty similarly.

We're, you know, even some companies just in our valley, like we've got a construction company that is coming up on their like 15th anniversary.

So, you know, they want to do a barrel pick.

And yeah, very similar.

We usually have folks come in and I, you know, I gotta be honest, like I personally enjoy spending the day with folks.

Because it's like, I mean, I guess I don't have to.

Yeah, well, what originated some, I don't know, two and a half, two and a quarter years ago is still going on.

But just for clarity's sake, I only buy craft...

There's a few caveats that I will buy the occasional NDP brand if I respect what they're doing.

And there's a few of those out there for sure.

And I will buy the occasional heritage brand if I need one for a calibrator or market research.

Because I think it's important.

Yeah, I guess I do agree with that, but it's in a roundabout way.

So I'm pushing... 14 months of commitment to only buying small craft whiskey brands from the small guys that are doing the damn thing.

Once you hit that point, I don't believe those are recession proof.

Like I want all these companies to do well, but Jack Daniels to me is an interesting barometer also, because, you know, I don't think that they're single barrels, Jack Daniels, single barrel sales is what carried them up necessarily.
