And what's been intriguing is, you know, that notion that, you know, to win an election, you literally need thousands and thousands of people.

So to win an election and therefore get into government and therefore make a difference, well, they'd realise that if we could get 5,000 people who agree with us into the right Liberal Party branches, we could actually control the Liberal Party and therefore control the future.

So influencing politics and getting involved in local politics and getting involved in local party politics is not wrong.

There's nothing wrong with that.

And I had that sinking feeling, but I didn't feel it was going to resolve anything because he is just a bit part player in a much wider cultural struggle in the West to define who we are and what reality is and the future we want.

Because w- if we believe, and this is the tricky bit, if we believe in a good and all-powerful God, then why do kids get cancer? Either God doesn't care or God sends it.

Like, wh- wh- wh- what are we, where are we at? And, and that's, and l- and let me just say for anybody watching or listening, I- I'm, I'm gonna say a few things about suffering.

But if you're suffering right now, like if your, you're in a, if, if your kid does have cancer, you know, please, God, they don't, but that's hard and there isn't an answer.

And I don't, I don't ha- any, and any answer that sort of ticks the theological boxes just end up being glib.

And, and, and that, that's just to say that if, if you're going through a hard time, there are no answers.

And one of the things that what suffering does for us is it actually gets us down to what, you know, what life's like.

Well, that's, that's beyond just getting crook.
