John found his way into putting on shows a little differently, starting with the music community he grew up around and continuing into college.

And then I went to school up in Rochester at Nazareth and I started promoting some shows up there, producing some shows up there with a Geneva band called El Cabong.

So they were, you know, a band that basically I went to high school with, but we weren't really in touch when we were in high school.

And then, you know, I ended up reaching out to them and, brought them up to Nazareth and we did a bunch of shows there over the course of five years up in Rochester that we called sesh fest.

And then in 2012, uh, working with some friends, Pablo Felbrew and James Eddington, we pulled together and did a festival down at the lakefront called Seneca waves music and arts festival.
