Jennifer, tell me, why is Ohio such an important place to begin surveying people among the 50-plus set when it comes to the midterms?

Jennifer CarlsonGUEST
Well, I can tell you the poll that we came out with is exactly the kind of state this polling series is meant to understand.

Jennifer CarlsonGUEST
We have two major statewide races within the margin of error and a 50-plus electorate that is – hugely, extremely motivated, paying attention, and not easily reduced to one-party label.

Jennifer CarlsonGUEST
And when you think about the demographics, you know, we have an aging population.

Jennifer CarlsonGUEST
In Ohio alone, 81 percent of the voters age 50-plus say they're extremely motivated to vote, compared to only 62 percent of the voters age 18 to 49.

Jennifer CarlsonGUEST
And so that significant motivation advantage and in races this close, it really can shape the outcome of an election.

Jay FoxHOST
Now, when you did this poll, how far into the weeds did you get? Are they undecided about the gubernatorial race? Are they undecided about the Senate race between John Husted and Sherrod Brown or all of the above?

But what I want to know is, are seniors voting for candidates who are actually telling the truth about what's coming or just candidates who are promising to protect something that's mathematically unsustainable as it's structured?

Jennifer CarlsonGUEST
And so Social Security, AARP has worked very long and hard in protecting Social Security because our perspective is if you've worked, you've paid in, you've earned it.

Jennifer CarlsonGUEST
What recently has come out, there was a report, as you mentioned, that said that Social Security, if Congress does nothing right now, the trustees report that the trust fund will go insolvent by 2032.
