I would love for you to explain why crop protection is so important to farmers and what purpose and what problem it solves.
14:20
Well, it solves a lot of problems.
14:21
Um, now I, I, I will say that, um, you know, a bit like medicine, crop protection has to be used in the right way.
14:28
Um, and you could use it in the wrong way and, and then you could have, you know, a, a more of a negative effect.
14:34
But also like medicine, plants need support, just like humans need medicine sometimes.
14:40
And cropping systems, uh, depending on what part of the world you're in, are facing constant challenges, weed pressure, insect pressure, disease pressure.
14:49
And crop protection is a way to help protect those plants to be able to produce the fruit, the grain, whatever it is they're producing, in a way that, uh, society needs.
19:25
So how do you sell higher quality seeds in an economic environment that's so brutal right now?
2:04
In season three, we talk to some of the biggest players in the seed world about how they're responding to this moment, including Jeff Rowe, CEO of Syngenta Group.
2:15
You know, quite frankly, um, the way I think about food is I think about it as a human right.
2:19
You know, Chinese people have the right to have access to good, healthy food, just like Americans do, just like the Brazilians do, just like the Indians do, and I think that food should be viewed as above politics.
4:54
Well-
4:54
Well, that, that was, like, a final, final hour, like, Alex Hirsch save.
4:58
Like, I think we were having a tough time with the exact resolution of this, and then, like, Alex came in like a champion at the last minute and, like, wrote all that, wrote all that, like, really touching, like, memories of them as children, like, the scrapbook stuff.

14 MINS LATER

18:49
Um, and he, I think, can relate to a lot of Mabel, and really put a lot of that in the episode.
18:54
Yeah.
18:54
Matt and, uh, Alonso were, like, these twin quasars of heart that just, like, uh, always injected so much warmth and love into every board sequence that they did, the character designs.
19:07
Like, uh, I remember during the Season 2 brainstorm, uh, Alonso just boarded a bunch of ideas-
5:33
Can you explain what that was?
5:34
Uh, that, that was another, that was like the Josh Weinstein specialty, and it was just like, uh, there was a guy named Boyd Henicke, and no one knows who Boyd Henicke is, and- You go to the tourist trap, and you don't really find out who Boyd Heneke is.
6:46
About how his show should be enjoyed [laughs]
6:48
... yeah.
6:49
It worked.
6:50
What do I do now? Do I email her? No, no, no, you practice.
6:53
The more girls you talk to, the better you get at it.
6:56
Grunkle Stan, these tips are priceless.
0:57
It's got a spotlight on it.
0:58
Writer, writer's tears.
0:59
It was really challenging because, uh, I, I think we...
1:03
Alex, like, we had, we had a idea for this episode and what we were gonna do, and then w- we were trying to do this, like, intense, emotional thing with it too.
1:13
Like, balance this really light, fun, kinda exciting episode against the tragedy of Soos's [laughs] backstory-

13 MINS LATER

14:19
Yeah.
14:19
Well, and also, also, going back to that alternate story, like, that, the, the, the, the Back to the Future story is about losing something you have and regaining it, whereas in this episode I feel like Soos gains something out of this episode.
14:30
He gains the knowledge that, like, I'm tired, I'm, I'm tired of thinking about this man who I'm missing who doesn't care about me.
8:11
Or enormous mini humans.
8:13
Neither.
8:14
We're Lilliputians.
8:16
Lilla- Lillipu- the name makes more sense written out than spoken.
8:19
And we control the balls.
8:21
Behold! [instrumental music]

10 MINS LATER

18:34
The magic.
