Is this something that's been in the works for quite some time? Give us some background on this, Jay.
2:29
Sure, and it has been in the works for quite some time.
2:32
CHS and OCP have had a long relationship in the marketing of phosphate-based fertilizers.
2:40
OCP is a Morocco-based company.
2:48
The way the world developed, much of the phosphate in this globe is located in the country of Morocco.
2:56
And that's why a Morocco company is such a big player in the business of a phosphate-based fertilizer.
3:03
So we've done business with them for many, many years in the marketing of products.
4:54
I mean, talk about some of those, the logistical aspects here, Jay.

Obviously, as you pointed out, being able to go up and down the Mississippi, Gulf-based, but again, just break it down for our listeners why this location makes so much sense.
17:28
Sure.
17:28
So it's located just north of New Orleans on the Mississippi River.
17:34
It's an area of land that's got other facilities associated with it and has direct connection so that it can receive inbound ocean-going vessels to unload, which is really key.
17:48
And that's why it's located in Louisiana.
17:50
That's why many... processing plants of this nature are located in Louisiana or other Gulf Coast states because they can receive the ocean-bound ships.
18:00
So that's why it's located there.

19:13
But when you think about the direct impact to that corn or soybean farmer in the Midwest based on the scale of this plant and if everything comes to fruition, how do you make it make sense to them?
38:48
Tell us a little bit more about this good news that you brought.
38:54
Happy to do so, Michelle, and thank you so much because it is big news for U.S. agriculture.
38:59
And we were pleased to be part of an announcement with OCP North America.
39:04
The Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, was there.
39:07
The Deputy Secretary, Judge Baden, was there.
39:11
And the governor of Louisiana was there to really announce one of the first production plants of phosphate-based fertilizers in nearly 40 years that were built in this country.
39:24
And it's really centered in Louisiana because, frankly, that's where the transportation and the ships that come into the United States carrying the raw material are best positioned to unload at.
43:19
Are they going to be helping at all with the construction or any part of this project?
25:10
Uh, talk about, uh, your perspective on how some of those geopolitical issues have affected CHS's business on, on the energy side and the agronomy side.
25:19
Well, you're, you're, you're spot on.
25:21
Um, we have experienced that and, of course, the, the, the owners of CHS and our customers have experienced it as, as well on, on, on both fronts.
25:31
Let's, let's start with the energy side.
25:34
Just tremendous volatility, you know, up and through today, Jesse, when, when you and I are talking, of, uh, of global events that just cause so much volatility in, uh, you know, the energy platforms with crude oil being up to $100, back down to $80, um, back up to $90.
25:56
And all of that just creating significant swings, um, for, for us as a company and, and for, for consumers out there.
26:05
Whether they be farm consumers or retail consumers in towns, just, just a lot.
29:59
Looking ahead to 2027, what, what is, uh, for lack of a better term, what's keeping you up at night when you look across agriculture and, and looking at CHS, et cetera? What are you most concerned about as we head into next year?
Jean CraneMODERATOR
16:09
Who's relying on it? How is it used? And where does food security come into play?
16:16
Yeah, so broadly speaking, the crops that Tom referenced are a source of energy.
16:24
They're a source of energy.
16:25
They're a source of energy for a human, for an animal, into some fuel.
16:30
Think of them as a source of energy across.
16:33
So that's what it gets used for.
16:36
Some use it in bigger ways than others, but that's where it's going.

16 MINS LATER

32:21
Jay and I are going to be tarred and feathered on the way out
