My understanding is in Oregon, like many states, rates are set by the Public Utility Commission.

It's a really good question and one that the Oregon Department of Energy has been thinking about since I started here nine years ago.

And it's something that we really grappled with back in 2020 when we came up with our mission statement.

that's still with us today.

So ODO's mission is to help Oregonians make informed decisions and maintain a resilient and affordable energy system.

We advance solutions to shape an equitable clean energy transition, protect the environment and public health, and responsibly balance energy needs and impacts for current and future generations.

So you heard the word affordability in there in that first sentence, and it's a really big part of what we do.

And this pillar has an opportunity for ODO to strengthen our efforts around conducting inclusive and purpose-driven engagement by thinking about how we convene groups and how we talk about our services, how we, how we connect and think about how we together could problem solve across the state.

One of the key takeaways from the various internal and external outreach that we did preparing for the strategic plan was that ODO should move beyond the, quote, "energy expert circle" and increase the use and effectiveness of our programs by boosting the entry of new voices and building trust.

So really getting at that diverse set of perspectives that Ruchi mentioned.

Um, it's really bringing all the voices to the table that's gonna allow us to be creative and, and problem solve.

And this really builds on something that we focused on in our previous strategic plan, um, where we, we talked about convening constructive conversations.

And there are going to be times when we need to talk with people who may not share the same viewpoints, the same ideas about how to solve a problem, but ODO can use its convening power to bring people to the table to have the productive and constructive conversations to get to a solution that has enough buy-in toEven be successful.

One example of this that, that we have that Rich mentioned earlier is the energy advisory work group, which is a body that we convene a few times a year to engage with ODO on our work.
