... um, when you start to bal- when you start to have to balance, you know, a marriage and kids and all of this stuff, you just have to reprioritize a little bit.

Putting my Superwoman cape on, I was going to spend half the time out of the country and do this amazing job.

At the same time, my kids were starting to need more from me in terms of activities and feeding and whatever [laughs], whatever it was, you know? So I think it was a little bit of a perfect storm in terms of it was the ultimate challenge.

This also meant that she had a decision to make about what she wanted to come next.

I was gonna need to go into people management, and my leaders were saying, you know, "You should be a people leader.

Obviously, you should do it." So what I learned was that I was going to really need to begin eating, breathing, and sleeping Dell if I was gonna move into a people management position.

I just was like, "You know what? I just can't do it.

Can you explain what you mean by that?

And, um, [laughs] so yeah, uh, it's at 558, and 80% of that is traditional, and then just last year in January of '25, I switched to Roth.

... and that's done quite well, so I'm really glad I did it as soon as they made it available.

I have a Roth IRA, and we do backdoor conversions, so I've got 60K in that.

My husband has a Roth IRA as well, and he's got 54K in his.

I, I thought Paul was charming in this movie.

They had some really good banter.

Um, I believed the chemistry between them.

But one of my favorite things about this movie is a lot of times on Hallmark, um, and Blessing Bracelet, I'm looking at you, we see these single moms who have... you know, are just down on their luck, and they have all these people trying to help them and hand them $10,000 checks.

And the women rip them up, and they're like, "I can do this all on my own," because Hallmark is like, "That's the inspiration we want." Whereas this movie was like, "No.

Americans get a hold of it, like, "Let's make more money off of this." [laughs]

Is that the deal? Do you, do you guys take the plane and just fly, uh, in a lot of out or out island kind of things, or out in the woods and the bush and everywhere, or what, Erin?

Yeah.

We've just started recently getting more into backcountry.

So our history and our education has not been in backcountry.

And then since getting and building our Beartina, uh, we've just started learning and dabbling with it.

And we actually just went on a bunch of sandbars this past week in the middle of the Mississippi River, camped there overnight.

Nice.

And, uh, uh, we've recently been figuring out what modifications we wanna make.

Yeah

... what a coincidence.

But, um, this story, it spans, like, decades of time.

It starts when the conjoined twins move to, um, uh, North Carolina, I think, in, like, 18, the 1830s.

I, I think before then they have been part of a circus, or they were a part of a circus.

when those times were, that was what happened.

But, um, y- tough month nonetheless, wasn't it, really?

But if we think about it realistically, we're not far off.

And for me, it's, like the Warrington game, um, the Saints and Leeds games, we just let them have too much start, and you can't be letting teams that are that good have double figure starts because you're then running all the way up the hill for the rest of the game.

Now, Leeds, it ran away from us a little bit.

Um, but the Saints game, it, it's just broke my heart a little bit 'cause we, we've circled it clearly from last year, but we did exactly the same thing as we did at their place away last year, where we let them have a point start, then played so much better in the second half, and then it were just too little too late.

So realistically, we're not that far off.

Like, the way that it escalates was crazy.

I was just imagining just going to the store to try and buy something, then all of a sudden all that happens and I'm just like, "Oh my God." But you kind of have to think, like, Peter, like, did he not realize that something like that could happen? I just, I don't know if he always thinks about what he's doing, and, like, how risky it really was for him to go into that store and, and be in public, so.

But just the way that it escalated was wild.

And then I really liked when he was interacting with the, uh, shopkeeper, and especially when he picked up the pillow, um, it says, "If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plan," and I love that because i- in the military we basically have a saying that your plan never survives first contact.

So when you're teaching, um, you know, officers and soldiers how to be in situations where you're running missions, like, you can have the best plan but the minute you take contact, it's, it all goes out the window.

Yeah.

And it doesn't change.

I feel like over the past, like, year or two, I've definitely, um-Done my best to curb my instinct to gift.

So for me, I think I've also tried to explore where that, like, comes from.

I'm a very emotional person.

I lead with emotions, so I think sometimes I spend, um, with emotion.

Like, I want this person to understand how much I appreciate them, or, um, how grateful I am, or how much I love them, so, like, I wanna do this thing that's thoughtful.

But I'm not necessarily going to say, like, "Oh, that's too much to spend on that."

What else did you, uh, learn, Erin, from your family growing up about money?

When you heard about Reni Goode's murder, do you remember what flashed through your mind? What went through your mind?

Um, I...

Well, in that day, that was the day that, that when I woke up to the whistles and the horns out on the street, and then two hours later, "Wait, somebody got killed?" I was putting my shoes on to go do something.

I don't know.

You know, I was so angry that...

And I'm a very peaceful person, but, like, [ding] it was just...

That could've been me in a, in a second.

Are you afraid for your life?

Lisa, what do you, what do you think?

Mm, I think this...

This only makes ICE look worse, in my opinion, for a few reasons.

One, I don't think, I'm- this is not me saying that-... uh, Renee Good driving away from officers that have asked her to stop or have told her to get out and disobey and not just complying with their orders is a good idea? I'm strictly talking about, does this constitute or rise to the level of a reasonable person's, um, understanding of what constitutes imminent threat or likelihood of death? I don't think so.

I think this proves that it's very clear that she was attempting to do a three-point turn or move away, the opposite direction of the officer, not trying to accelerate towards him or charge towards him.

I think that she had a calm demeanor, even though she's smiling, and yes, she's doing so, uh, like, to taunt him, I suppose.

Can you just start by telling all of us the story of how you were diagnosed?

diagnosed?Sure.

So I'm about 16 months into my journey.

In February of 2024, I was diagnosed with metastatic stage four breast cancer after receiving my very first mammogram.

The reason I was going for my mammogram is because the end of 2023, my mom had been diagnosed with stage one breast cancer, and I was turning 40 last year, so it was a priority for me to do that.

Just thinking it would be routine, nothing out of the ordinary, just kind of checking it off the list to say, "I'm getting my first mammogram.

Check.

Can you take us through what those accounts are, what you have, and who currently is the beneficiary?

Including her own adult children, Chad and Erin.

She was the best mom and the best friend I could have ever hoped for.

I could count on her to make me feel better no matter what the circumstances were.

She always had the right things to say and always the best advice.

But for Karen's daughter, Erin, the pain of her mother's death is never far away.

As heartbroken as I am for my loss, what literally brings me to my knees is the fact that our two amazing sons will never know a life or a world with her in it.

All right, well, now tell us about the goose problem that your city parks have.

Okay, so, uh, we have some resident geese that have decided they love living in Lethbridge, and they don't want to fly south like the rest of their friends do. So the goose problems are basically, um, we wanna make sure that we keep our waterfowl safe. And so we'd like them to keep moving on. Um, we wanna keep people safe who use the parks. There can be human/goose conflict as well as, um, with people's pets. So we don't want, that to happen. (clears throat) We also want to make sure that we reduce the fecal matter in the park. So, one goose can poop up to two pounds in a day. That's a lot of poop.

And in the past, what did you guys try to keep these geese off your lakes and parks?

Well, uh, at one point in time, we had employees go out with a dog. Um, they went out to try to deter the geese from being in the park. But then it would just make the geese go onto the lake, and we couldn't do anything about that. Um, we've done some, um, ag management with a damage danger permit, which is a federal permit. Um, and we really, like, we've communicated a lot with the federal government under the Goose Management Plan and just trying to make really good decisions about how to manage the population. Uh, but it's really tough because, uh, basically they have a really, uh, perfect environment to live here. It's, it's safe. There's really no predators here. And there's water, there's an island, so it's really tough to manage the geese here.
