Episode 4 - Christian Zionism in US Theological Education
9:00
61:45

Malinda BerryGUEST
This, like, we, we're a biblical seminary, not a theological seminary, and, and so really needing to think through, well, what is our theology of religions? What do we think about the relationship between the covenants that God makes to what becomes the Jewish community and then Christian community? There's a lot of unexamined, embedded theology about this that, that people aren't even really talking about.
9:28
I'm also a little bit differently situated in the sense that I'm not, you know, I'm not situated within a kind of traditional academic seminary.
9:40
So I'm connected to a lot of progressive mainline clergy, I would say, mostly, mostly Episcopalian, but not, not all Episcopalian, and in the past couple of years have been having a lot of conversation with folks in very progressive spaces who are kind of vocally, actively, out loud committed to a lot of justice issues and doing political advocacy a- advocacy around all kinds of things in the past couple of years, noticing like a very, a- a- as you all have, a very allowed silence around Palestine, which has, you know, made me feel a lot of things.
10:15
One, one, one of the many responses is curiosity and been having conversation with people, seminary trained clergy and leaders, um, within churches about kind of what's going on with that silence and what's underneath it and behind it.
10:26
And one thing I've heard from a lot of people is that people have expressed to me not a lack of care or concern, but simply a feeling and experience of being incapacitated, like unresourced to engage in these conversations.

But again, by weaving together where I think this conversation has brought us and hopefully will take the listeners too.
