Talk us through kind of your recovery and the community support that you had.
10:10
Yeah, it's, Chris, it's ongoing.
10:13
It's one of those things where I work every day and I have, first of all, I've had some of the most amazing people that I've got to work with, which has been inspirational, including like from the medics that took care of me and flew me to the hospital, to the first doctors that put my leg back together.
10:29
You know, they reconstructed my leg where they had tried to put together twice and I was pretty unconscious.
10:35
So I don't remember a ton of this.
10:37
I, this is where I start to remember where they had to take a muscle out of my, it's called the gracilis out of my inside of my leg.
10:43
And they took a skin graft on the outside of my leg and they rebuilt my lower leg just to not have to amputate.
14:50
So what has that looked like for the team and for you since the accident?
24:58
He's got some people watching him.
24:59
keane keane played day one and then he uh he got to celebrate like nobody else and so what does that mean exactly we'll get back to that in a minute i saw a picture anyway and behind him is blake our freshman that played on day two did a great job and he's got three more years of state championships in him so blake boss price's little brother and then right straight behind me is jackson carlos and jackson is a freshman at michigan as was one of the guys who was with us last year and um and still is with me all the time so jackson jackson trouse is michigan and in the middle is brady nope yep brady's wortel and brady his freshman year was at western he's still western western and um are you still studying to be pt
28:46
This Cinderella story.
28:48
We, we, every year we're going to make it every year state.
28:53
And so Help me, coach.
28:58
Five years? More than that.
29:00
Probably seven, eight.
29:01
Seven or eight years, we've gone to state almost every year.
17:38
Yeah
17:38
...
17:38
the one other thing that I just wanna say is when, again, I was, [laughs] I was not aware for about a month about anything.
17:46
And then when I did become aware, I was amazed that these guys got back on tee boxes.
17:52
I mean, I was amazed that you guys went back at it, and I was kinda in awe.
17:59
And, and maybe it was because I knew how we were injured and we were, we were hurt, but I, I just was amazed that they were able to do that.
18:07
I was so impressed.

8 MINS LATER

26:02
When did you know, "Man, things are, things are looking pretty good here"?
3:54
When it happened, did you wake up in the hospital? How long were you receiving care there? And you had another player who was also injured severely, right?
4:05
Yeah, there were three of us that had some really difficult injuries and I was fairly unconscious through the majority of May and a little bit into June.
4:19
It's funny because my wife and I, we just kind of realized that on the 13th of June is when I finally came home.
4:26
You know, the accident was April 27th, and I came home just a little over just like a year ago, a couple days, and I was still in a wheelchair into July.
4:37
And so, yeah, it's hard because I really – I don't remember the accident at all.
4:43
I don't even remember the day before the accident at Arcadia.
4:49
I think our brains and our bodies protect us, and so thankfully I don't remember a lot.
8:06
How do you want to describe how the boys did and reacted on day two?
37:39
Uh, when it happened, uh, did you wake up in the hospital? How long were you, uh, receiving care there? And, uh, you had another player who was also injured severely, right?
37:51
Yeah.
37:51
Um, there were three of us that had some, um, really difficult injuries and, um, I was fairly unconscious through the majority of May and a little bit into June.
38:05
Um, uh, it's funny 'cause my wife and I, we just kinda realized that, um, on the 13th of June is when I finally came home.
38:12
I...
38:12
You know, the accident was April 27th, and I came home just a little over, um, just a, you know, like a year ago, a couple days, and I was still, um, in a wheelchair into July.
38:23
And so, um, yeah, I...
42:06
Mm-hmm.
