Jayvon is autistic, and struggled in both the mainstream and private specialist schools he initially attended in Hackney.

I mean, when we was at the other school, I'm talking mute.

Jayvon was mute even when he came home.

I didn't know a human being could be mute for over, like, a whole week and a whole week just not talking to you.

Not talking to no one.

No communication, just blank.

It was like the body was there, but the mouth just nothing.

As Jayvon speaks, his mum beams with pride.

... like six years ago.

We'd hit rock bottom.

We'd got in a really shit place.

We're not expert cleaners, or we weren't.

We are now.

Um, and my daughter's got a cleaning business, and she was doing really, really well.

Why is it therapeutic?

It's calming.

[laughs] It's calming and, um, obviously when you first start doing it, it's frustrating because you can't see your stitches or anything like that, but it just like seems to just glide on.

Once you've picked it up, it just glide on and like you say, you could just...

You just lose your mind in it really, while you're doing it.
