Derick, can you, can you walk us through the Human Elephant Conflict Coexistence Toolkit that Saved Elephants have created and explain why there's no one-size-fits-all approach to combating conflict?
7:15
Yeah, thanks, Douglux.
7:16
So for, for Human Elephant Coexistence Toolbox that, uh, uh, Saved Elephants came up with, I think this story starts all the way from the, our project on beehive fence.
7:26
So when we deployed this, uh, beehive fence project or inside this, uh, beehive fence project in Tsavo, you know, we had like, uh, it was b- it, it was doing well and the challenge with the human-elephant conflict keeps on shifting to other areas.
7:40
And like in Sagalla, you know, we have like more than 50 farmers with the beehive fence, but you know, we have so many farmers.
7:47
So we were like, "I think we can also try other methods." So we started doing some research, looking out for other tools that we can deploy in Sagalla, and we had to come up, we deployed like more than 20 different tools.
7:58
But now as we understand all of us, human-elephant conflict issues are all over.

It's a collaboration between conservancy and the communities, and especially the local communities who have lived with these experiences for a long period of time.
