Kate MorthlandHOST
To that point, spending time with them, what issue do you think deserves more attention from lawmakers, from your perspective?
6 MINS LATER

Jeff KeicherGUEST
Did they keep that and put it towards Meals on Wheels or reducing the puns list or taking a look at the underfunding for our DSP providers?

Dave SyversonGUEST
They're facing a significant budget shortfall, uh, going into this next year already.

Dave SyversonGUEST
But, uh, uh, we still think Chicago has room to make some, you know, tough decisions, like other schools have done.

Dave SyversonGUEST
When you have, uh, uh, what, uh, over 100 schools that are less than 50% vacancy, uh, you've got a number of schools that have 30%, um, uh, of vacancy, or 30%, um, occupancy in the schools, um, they need to make tough decisions in Chicago, just like our suburban school districts have had to make.

Dave SyversonGUEST
Uh, so I think before they come for more money, they need to look at, uh, one, making the same decisions and tough, uh, tough budget decisions that our districts have had to make, uh, and, um, two, look at their own, you know, how they could solve their own problem, just like every other district has had to do.

Brandis FriedmanHOST
Senator Syverson, what do you say to some of those, uh, some of those options that, uh, Representative Davis just named as ways to generate revenue for school, for all school districts, not just CPS?
