What is the canon? What is canonical? What belongs in the universe? And you have to say, what is definitive? Is that difficult? And do you borrow and mix and match? And do you as writers have to adhere to a certain canonical fealty to what Kirby did? Or are you allowed a lot of leeway to change things around?

Cecil CastellucciGUEST

One of the big problems with the killing joke and with the fact that it seems like everybody keeps going back to that well to torture Barbara and Batgirl, you know, with that, is that it really feels like everyone uses it as a device to service the male characters.

Cecil CastellucciGUEST

Cecil CastellucciGUEST
She's just a MacGuffin for Jim Gordon and Batman and continuously throughout the bat universe.
