And even when you ask someone you admire for advice, there's not much they can say except for, you know, say yes to things that feel right or don't do this.

But in general, it's kind of like, what? And then I moved to New York and luckily fell into like the comedy improv scene and at the upright citizens brigade and met a lot of cool people who were making their own work and not waiting around for those auditions to come through because when you're starting like you know you don't have an agent you don't even know how to get one you don't know how to get an audition so started doing some comedy stuff and then yeah kind of built that my life from there I

why did you not get picked up on a stretcher? Be carried out like the queen you are.

Or when it led me to a gorgeous, well-reviewed restaurant in a new neighborhood just as I was starting to get hungry.

My algo takes wonderful care of me.

It's true that sometimes my algo scares or confuses me by telling me something I don't understand, like the time it suggested I get screened for a terrible disease.

I asked my algo for more details, and it said that the disease was one of the most common for women between the ages of twenty and forty-five, that it was a precaution to check it out.

You never know what might be lurking in your body.

My algo doesn't have a body, but it understands bodies better than I do.

Um, when did the narrative come to you, a- and was it obvious?

Yeah, I think shows I've done in the past have kind of been a hodgepodge of different themes and ideas, and this was such a clear story in my mind of girl who thinks everything's going perfect, something crazy happens.

You know, how does she come out on the other side? It was a very clear arc, and working with Alex was so amazing because he helped me really see, okay, what moment might need a song? What moment needs a joke? What moment might need not a joke? Maybe in this second, sit in your vulnerability for a second-

Uh, beyond.

Not only is he brilliant, hilarious, generous, he's also so nice and such a good hang.

I feel so lucky.

I think he reached out to me a few years ago after he saw the Netflix special, and we just had one of those, "Oh, let's meet and get to know each other, and, you know, if something comes up, something comes up." And then when I had this show, I was like, "Let's definitely see if he's interested." And so we had a coffee and started working together dramaturgically on it last spring, I guess, 2025.

Really? That's scary.

And I was instructed not to speak.

It was really traumatic, but I go, "I really wanna do the show." And so I don't know who suggested it, but I found a thing where I type on the computer and it speaks for me, and so I did that with everything.

I think, I think I probably, I have a vague memory of being in college and, like, logging into my parents' HBO account and being like, "[gasps] I can watch, I can finally watch." ’Cause it used to air on E! Remember this? It aired on E!

I go, "Finally, you're rescuing..." Everything is so shit, that to watch an episode of television that's just perfectly orchestrated, everything ties together, every storyline is resolved, I was like, this is so delightful, and it looks so beautiful.
