Now, when we talk about, um, different food systems being used in, uh, other locations, obviously what works in, in Kansas doesn't work in, in a place like Kenya, but I, I think there's a lot of hope that some of this research, um, bits and pieces of it can be used around the globe to, to improve the situation.
15:37
And Ben- Yeah ...
15:37
if I can add onto that, I just, I, I think something that was really important to us as we told this story is, is again, providing the wider context.
15:46
Michele mentioned in the beginning, so often the conversation is methane's a terrible greenhouse gas, which it is.
15:53
Cows make methane, and therefore cows are bad, so let's reduce the numbers or get them off the land.
15:57
I think what, what I learned, uh, from coming out of this five-year process is the great benefit that cows have when managed properly on the land, and that helps with carbon sequestration, that, it helps with biodiversity and soil health.
16:12
I mean, when you remove cows from the land, you've dama- you're damaging that whole ecosystem.
16:50
Yeah.
8:45
Where did the funding come from?
8:47
Yeah, so executive producer Mark Lyons, he is the funding source.
8:51
So Mark is the president and CEO of a company called Alltech, which is an agricultural company based in central Kentucky.
8:59
And we are full-time employees of that company.
9:04
So that's how we've been telling these ag stories for the past, you know, 10 years together and then for the past five years focused on World Without Cows.
9:15
know i always got to say that when it comes to kind of that that background when we had that discussion with with mark lines and he goes hey i think there's an opportunity to tell a bigger story you know todd honestly in the beginning i i didn't think it was a good idea i was really nervous about this idea of you know telling something creating a story that might only live in an echo chamber and so michelle and i had some really serious conversations back and forth we presented this idea to mark about how if we could approach this from our journalistic lenses, if we could kind of put the old journalism hat on and go, If we can go where we need to go, talk to the people that we need to talk to, really, you know, go on this journey of discovery, then I think that's the right route.
10:04
And to Mark's credit, he kind of looked at us, you know, with a confused look on his face.
14:54
And it's already 2026, almost 2027.
7:27
And I just have an innate talent for being able to find stories quite easily.
7:32
Well, here's the thing.
7:34
I wasn't in Germany.
7:35
I don't have the Pew Pew videos.
7:39
But what I think, and so I think our deadlines sometimes were...
7:42
We're different, but you would have experienced this still in local journalism.
7:46
I think the skills that apply to what we're doing now is like when I would show up to work at 3 p.m., you're handed an assignment and told that you've got to have a minute and a half story for the 5, 536, turn a different package for the 10 and 11 shows.

27 MINS LATER

Was there any pushback at any stage? So I know it is the world premiere, but has there been any sort of negative reaction or, you know, like just from the idea of it so far?
