they've announced in recent weeks for support for businesses.

This is very similar to where we were in the pandemic, right? We weren't sure where the goalposts were moving, how they were shifting, and what changes we would need to make to support businesses, to support Canadians.

And we're similarly in a situation of a lot of uncertainty.

We don't know what the next escalation could or couldn't be.

And so I think you'll see government programs continuing to adjust to support Canadian businesses, Canadian workers.

I think both Peter and Erin are right here in terms of I think we're in for some pretty tough times and the government is taking this very seriously, which is excellent.

I think if you were to ask me this question, Brian, three days ago, I'd lean a little bit more towards bluster.

That's a string of words together, but here we go.

What is the problem as you see it when it comes to the Ontario Liberal Party?

One of the things that I point out in my column is that the Ontario NDP and the PC Party of Ontario are two very formidable political machines.

Part of this is because they've had steady leadership, which means they've had steady fundraising and steady stream of income so they could invest in their resources.

But at the end of the day, the Ontario Liberal Party has been, as you pointed out earlier, leaderless more than once over the last few years.

And we've really been lacking the investments into transformation and modernization of the party that the other two opposition parties in Ontario have made on their side.

And frankly, transformations that the federal Liberal Party made over a decade ago when Justin Trudeau came in in 2015, they undertook significant reforms, constitutional reforms, technology adoption and innovation.

huge changes across the country so that every riding in every corner of the country could be ready for a campaign between election periods.

I mean, what do you think is happening? Or is there some other sort of inertia in the Ontario Liberal Party?

that's uh twenty five thousand dollars i mean i thought it was twenty five thousand dollars for doug i don't know that anybody needed to fight back against the stupidity of the whole blue about the whole uh lake america thing blue

Yeah, listen, Jim, I don't disagree with you.

I don't think it's a great use of taxpayer dollars.

And I don't think there's a single taxpayer or Ontarian out there saying, please, more signage.

That's really what the problem is here.

But I'll tell you, I'm calling into you right now from Beaches, East York.

My house is a five-minute walk from Lake Ontario.

But again, I was shocked that he didn't want to play with the media.

But Believe it or not, though, Michelle and I, we make a Brian's comment that, sure, conservatives had a rough night, but it was just as bad for the NDP.

just as bad as the NDP.

I mean, the NDP are in a very different place, right? There's a lot, there's not talk right now.

They just have a newly elected leader.

There's not talk yet of sending him out on the plank.

There isn't internal division within the NDP party.

They are pretty solidly behind their leader right now.

Now, I know BC and Ontario, I don't want to make an apple and orange situation, but is it just like this BC Conservative Party built to win province-wide elections?

But I think a real like, you know, female like she's a business woman and she's positions herself as such blue.

Yeah, I think it's pretty remarkable when you see her example, whether it's in interviews or really the impact of her legacy is going to be felt for many generations.

You know, she was so dedicated to reinvesting in the community that raised her, whether it was for Dolly land, the theme park that employed so many people locally for her or her imagination library.

And I looked it up before we did the show here.

And I think currently around 3 million children from around the world have received over 300 million books from the imagination library.

That's for kids from, birth till five years old getting a book every month which is a you know just one part of her legacy as a remarkable artist and I think it's a good reminder to everybody that if you can all think about how you can be a little bit more kind to make a difference in your day-to-day life do your best to treat your neighbor well because I think she was one of the best ambassadors for kindness we've got.

So a blue question to you, do you agree with Alex's analysis? And if so, then what does this say about Moyes and Myers and Sachs? Or is there something else going on here?

Well, first off, I look at this as kind of my Super Bowl.

I was a big fan of City Hall.

My friends and family all take great pleasure in telling me how boring City Hall is.

So my phone has been ringing nonstop for the last two weeks because it's been nothing but action.

You know, I really do agree with a lot of what Alex is saying.

I think to maybe the average observer, this may seem like a lot of wild coincidences and up and down, but this is absolutely organized.

Tomorrow at 2, yeah.

How do you see it shaping up? What does this look like for you?

Well, I think a lot of folks are looking at this race and they see Navdeep Bains as a real front runner.

I had a chance to connect with all the campaigns today and to talk to some folks across the province.

And it sounds like the campaigns are doing a pretty good job of crisscrossing the province.

Navdeep Bains has visited over 75 ridings.

Dylan Miranda is new to running for office, but he packed up his Subaru a few weeks ago and drove over 10,000 kilometers today.

As I said, names don't mean anything, but generally speaking, what are you seeing on the organizational and strategic front for these candidates?

But the part that took place in Toronto, people are quite legitimately debating, was it worth it or not?

Oh man, I think without a doubt, 100% worth it.

Not to mix our sports metaphors here, but I think FIFA was an absolute home run in Toronto.

You know, I think the fact that only a few weeks ago, we were all talking about wanting the Canadian team to play their final games here, that everybody was talking about wanting more games and not fewer really speaks volumes of the success of this.

You know, I didn't have tickets to any of the games, but I got to watch the Portugal versus Croatia match in Davenport.

I know you had Julia on here a little bit earlier, but right in the heart of little Portugal.

And it was just amazing.

Where do these tempests in a teapot, you know, how do you sort of try and balance that out?
