So, like-

He moved his way up to middle management and recently landed his first senior leadership role at a nonprofit.

But I was itching to get back to, like, really helping people in a direct way.

I heard about this nonprofit up in here where I am now, mainly helping people in recovery, and I just fell in love with the mission and then the founder.

Uh, she wouldn't take no for an answer.

It was a huge step up for me because I was kinda like middle management with very little kind of impact in the overall organization.

And lo and behold, there's a medium-sized but growing nonprofit bringing me on as the executive director, supposedly taking over for the founder.

And so I love the mission.

Right? What is in your control vis-a-vis your relationship with the founder?

Let's just not be friends." I'm interested in you wanting to stay friends, and yet to continue to disagree on this.

I think a lot of what's going on in our culture is that politics might be playing too big of a role.

Politics are definitely important, and it's- it kind of shows you the way that you're looking at the world.

But I think friendship is much more than your view on Israel and Palestine and the conflict, and I think we both understand that, and, like, Albert has so many lovely characteristics.

So just the fact that we don't dis- like, agree- [chuckles] just the fact that we, like, don't agree on everything, uh, politically, doesn't mean that we can't be friends and help each other in, like, like, personal ways.

And also, just when you have friends that you disagree with, you grow so much.

My, like, whole view of, uh, the conflict, and also on a lot of, lot of other topics, I've learned a lot by talking with someone who doesn't have the same view, and I think it's, it's actually very bad that we have a trend where people who don't, like, agree politically can't stay friends.

Wait, you moved here multiple times?

Yeah, so my last two years of high school I took college courses.

So when I was 18 I had my high school diploma and then a s- an associate's degree.

So I was like, I feel comfortable now taking a couple years to just try things, maybe move to California, which is what I did.

So that's kinda where the deliveries first came in.

Um, I didn't really understand how making a budget worked back then, so I looked online from Minnesota and I was like, oh, I can get, like, a one bedroom for, like, $1,700, and I could probably live off, like, two grand a month.

And, you know, just, like, Postmate and everything will be all fine.
