In Philadelphia, where April and I are, the numbers are even a little bit higher than that.
6:09
I always was frustrated with concurrent planning when you're actually trying to serve as a family, right? And as a parent, like, how can you plan for my come up and my downfall at the same time, right? Like, it's impossible to do.
6:27
And you see that happen in real time when children are removed from certain homes due to that individual not saying they want to adopt them, even though it's the beginning of the case, right? You have some great resource parents that don't plan to adopt.

Like that is not kind of what they came in for, but that's kind of what they're forced to do at the very beginning.

So it breaks down so many relationships that lead people to not have that support or be able to it's disheartening as a parent to hear that someone else has asked to adopt a child when they just was removed three weeks ago, right? And it does play into the mental piece of why some people don't necessarily automatically start off, so to speak, with the objectives and what the system wants them to do, right? Because that is a very human reaction, a very human feeling.
7:27
But they're penalized because, once again, their timeline has started.
7:30
So if it took me five months to get my emotions together behind everything that was, you know, coming down, I'm five months less, right? And five months closer to my rights being terminated.

Now, is there a story that you can share of a parent whose rights were terminated, whose family could benefit from this law passing in Pennsylvania?
