41:50
Things seem to be turning on.
41:52
Yeah.
41:52
You know, I had one good day and then, uh, We caught some nice ones on top water, you know, biggest was 20 pounds, and Debra caught her personal best.
42:03
And then yesterday I was out with Dave and Denise up in Liberty, and we only caught two, two stripers.
42:11
But then after about an hour, I said, forget it.
42:14
Let's go put the rod down.
42:16
Let's go bass fishing, and went and caught about 30 of them.
44:10
I'm going to have to go with
43:32
We're talking about big Lucas.
43:33
Well, little Lucas Dicord, you know, he reminds me of Justin, but he's just a little bit younger.
43:40
I think I met, I was helping Lucas, Justin Lucas, when he was like 16.
43:49
I've been helping little Lucas since he was eight.

1 HR 8 MINS LATER

111:49
So I started doing it and judging by our calendar, I could tell it's going to be, uh, it's going to be pretty, uh, pretty intense a month for us over there.
111:57
Yeah.
111:57
But you know, Jay, one of the things about crab season, you go out there, you get 10 crab and you probably get a limit of rockfish.
112:04
Probably.
41:57
put them in will they be will they be captive in there or will they be able to
42:01
they go they go in and out but they it'll go in there they didn't dredge them or anything they just left them shallow and you know they anticipate the they'll grow really fast and then they'll leave but what gets me is but when they put those salmon in there and they grow big and they head out to the ocean, where do they come back in four years? Right.

5 MINS LATER

47:28
a snail knot.
47:29
No, I never tie snail when I'm punching.
47:31
I don't because sometimes like when you're tied that snail knot, you get stuck in heavy grass.
47:37
You pull it to things always cock guided.
47:40
So you always have to straighten it out.
47:41
Right.
48:15
I know, I know you've been, uh, running around doing a lot of sampling of the Delta action and everything, but what are you hearing on salmon? I hear there's a guy that lives near Garcia Bend that's been out a few times.
48:27
Uh, Russ Graves was there yesterday afternoon at 3:00.
48:32
He put, uh, three in the boat, and he's lost one.
48:36
And he only fished for, like, four hours, so he- there's still a lot of them there.
48:41
I was there two days ago and only caught one, had one other one on.
48:46
Uh, but there's still a lot of fish in the system, so-
49:30
They'll, they'll just turn their nose up at it.
49:32
Yeah, keep checking them.
44:02
It hit everywhere.
44:03
Yeah.
44:04
But the stripers, I think they're just between Pittsburgh and the Bay, you know, 'cause it's probably a little bit cooler out there, but they'll, they're gonna head in.
44:13
You know, I hooked a couple good ones this, uh, this last Sunday, but, you know, it's just, I probably hooked five stripers, so I went bass fishing.
44:21
The bass fishing's off the hook.
44:24
I mean, you know, we're catching a lot of fish on spinner bait, punching, flipping, whatever you wanna do, and you could catch them.
44:30
And then, and all the guys I see out there, you know, I stop and talk to them.
46:53
They've been big fish coming for two weeks.
40:43
Have all those weeds cleared out of the North Delta, Allen?
40:47
You know, on incoming tide, it's clean.
40:50
And then when it starts going out, man, it is everywhere.
40:53
You could punch in the middle of this loop.
40:55
It's terrible.
40:56
You know, they made a big mistake.
40:59
That area they flooded is huge.
44:04
Yeah, you know, I
43:51
You can travel anywhere for this event, but a lot of your pathways are plugged up, aren't they?
43:58
Yeah.
43:59
They're making a sanctuary over there off a minor slough, and they took a mower in there and mowed all the tules down.
44:08
And then they broke the levee open and all that stuff went right on out into the channel.
44:13
You can't even run a boat through it.
44:14
Where'd they think it was going to go, Alan?
46:58
But, Alan, real quick, tell them about the YouTube channel and what you're still doing as far as education for these guys on the water.
47:03
Yeah, I've been still doing a lot of electronic consulting, you know, helping these guys.
43:19
There's not any stripers in there right now?
43:22
You know, Rick has been going almost every day in the evening, and he's been having days where he's been catching a lot.
43:29
And then other days, you know, he can't get them to bite.
43:31
It seems like there's a lot of fish in the port, but you just got to get them to go.
43:37
I'll be out there.
43:38
I'm going to go out there one time this week and look around.
43:41
I'll go back out to Liberty.
44:08
Cortland area I hear has got a lot of guys fishing already.
41:05
Maybe a Sacramento right now, right under the bridge.
41:08
I, I took the various, a tag off the line and I went out on a river the other day to look around and, um, They're doing a lot of construction in the Garcia area.
41:19
You know, they're doing a lot of levee repair.
41:22
And, you know, we trode and we jigged for till like one o'clock.
41:27
I caught one striper and one squall fish.
41:30
So I'm not grafting a whole lot of them.
41:32
The ones I do see, they're just up high and moving.

5 MINS LATER

47:04
What do you think? Move upriver a little bit? Way
43:00
That had to be rough.
43:03
Yeah, very rough.
43:04
You know, you're only allowed 16 a year per person.
43:10
So there's 20 of us, and that was limited out.
43:14
So everybody got limits of black cod.
43:18
And then we caught a lot of silvers.
43:20
We put 30 silvers in our boat and only fished for them for a day and a half.
44:46
But are you going to make some runs up to Berryessa for what's happening up there?
39:10
Yep.
39:11
get out mine i have three hummingbirds and one lorance oh you do so i could show the difference yeah because there is a difference you know they you know there's options on each manufacturer i don't care what kind you have there's some words that's better than others and i actually take people out and show you right that's just my opinion but you can see with your own eyes
42:57
until we see the metro salmon thing starting to heat up
43:00
it's starting right now is it i think it's um they're starting to catch them local before they all just flew by because there wasn't a whole lot coming just a little spurts of fish And then, but once they start, the bigger groups start coming in and they start bagging up and it's just starting right now.
43:16
And I think two to three weeks, it's going to be in full swing.
43:19
It's going to be unbelievable this year.
43:20
I already know it.
58:32
He battled it back up and got it over the rail, and it was a big fish yesterday.
58:36
He's lucky.
58:38
That's a beautiful fish.
59:09
how you catching them flipping still
59:11
mostly flipping getting someone on blades yeah go back to the blade and the blade probably was pretty good last sunday
48:25
Right.
48:26
And the only problem is, like, at 10:00 you have a low.
48:30
It seems to be, like, 10:00 where it'll slow down, and they won't start picking up for till about an hour, hour and a half.
48:37
And Don Paganelli, who bass guides up there, told me he was on a school two-pound crappie, and he told me where they were, so I said, "Let's go crappie fishing."
50:19
Uh, follow along and, uh, where can everybody follow along? And maybe even, uh, book you to do a little sonar extravaganza training.
50:27
Oh, yeah.
50:28
Well, when I went to Alaska...
50:30
I've been going there for the last 20 years, and first couple years I went, I asked them, I said, um, "Can I mess with your electronics?" And they go, "Why?" And I, "Because when we're fishing 2,000 feet, they didn't have them set right." And then they go, "We can't even see the bottom.
speaker_10NARRATOR
30:17
Yeah.
30:18
It's a big boat.
30:19
It's heavy duty.
30:20
I only had it out once.
30:21
I launched it, um, had Roger with me, my buddy, and he, I walked back down the dock and he goes, Hey, Alan, um, the throttles don't work.
30:32
Oh my God.
30:33
So, you know, new boats, you know, something, something's always not quite right.
32:54
Those fish just change ends of the lake when that happens.
43:06
You know, you and I, after a little talk on the sidewalks of Fisherman's Warehouse, he should be sending us a check.
43:12
That's a long time ago.
43:14
You know, Justin used to work for me.
43:17
I know, man, I'm rooting for you, man.
43:19
You really kicked butt this time.

12 MINS LATER

55:12
We weren't always easy on him.
55:14
No, when we talked private, we talked some bad stuff about you.
35:31
Oh, you're still back there getting the water moving through the trees? Yeah,
35:33
we're flipping in that.
35:35
The thickest stuff we can find.
35:37
The water temperature's in like 82 degrees, and those fish are tucked way back in there, and you just got to hew them out.
35:43
That's one of the things I had Mason, he's only 10, pitching, you know, with 65-pound braid and trying to tell him to throw it into the trees.
35:53
Yeah.
35:54
And he thinks he's going to get snagged.
38:28
What are these salmon doing that are coming into the system right now? They get up there around Cortland and that area.
42:00
Well, he had zip right until the last minute on your video too.
42:03
Well, we had, um, Rick, you know, and Blade Runner, and Roger's boat- The, I can't get that, his meter to r- read while we're running, and, um, you have to stop.
42:14
So Rick goes, "Why don't we just cruise around till we find them?" And I go, "'Cause this fish finder don't work." And I've tried so many positions.
42:21
He has the three-
43:03
Then they'll come back up here, and then they just say, "I don't think so."
43:07
Yeah, they did that.
43:07
And you know, we're constantly changing, and pretty soon we've run out.
43:11
Go, "What the heck?" You know, so it just humbles you.
38:21
What is going on? Bub made the run.
38:23
Yeah, they went out the other day.
38:26
They hooked, I think, five.
38:27
They put three in the boat.
38:29
140, the biggest.
38:30
140, 120, and 80.
38:34
And everything looked good.

10 MINS LATER

48:40
Something's got to be smoothing around.
58:19
Liberty, Liberty gets crowded though.
58:22
There hasn't been too many boats out there.
58:24
The other day, my grandson put one in over 10.
58:34
I hope you got some better pictures than what you posted.
58:36
No, because I wanted to just hurry up and get it back in the water.
58:41
My grandson, he's only been bass fishing with me four times.
46:26
You know,
46:26
one of the ways I found to really find out, you know, whether I'm doing it right or wrong, I see the fish on the meter.
46:32
I do turns.
46:33
Yeah.
46:34
And then if I see the outside or inside, I know what to increase or slow down.
46:39
It's a lot of stuff that tells you, you know, if I had electronics, I see the fish coming, then that's something else.
46:45
If I don't see any, then, you know, I'll move.

50 MINS LATER

96:55
that, guys? We got lunch free up there.
37:07
you know, a
37:08
lot of those guys are, you know, they're not getting limits.
37:12
You know, they're hooking them, but they're just not putting them in the boat.
37:15
Those fish are so wild, you know, and I think everybody's so anxious to catch them, put a little bit too much heat on them, and they keep losing them.
37:23
But here, you know, everybody, if they've landed all the fish, all them boats are coming in with limits.
39:44
You
39:44
know, my daughter, she found these ones in Japan, the quirky ones, and instead of rounding it, it was like a little tube about an inch and a half.
39:54
It looked pretty nice, but, you know, it's shad color.
46:35
difficult is it for you to take a look at the screen and understand what a fish is compared to a log
46:43
really easy i mean it's a no-brainer i mean if you just On any of your electronics, if you just stare at it all the time and then you start getting results, obviously a lot of times I see them, they don't bite.
46:55
But you could tell on the live whether it's a fish or not.
46:58
I put one on my buddy's boat, Roger, that went with Kyle Wise, and we were at Berryessa, and I was telling him, I'm saying, look, see, we had one screen on 2D, one screen on live.
47:10
And I said, see, I could see them on both.
47:12
But the only thing that advantages the live is you could see the fish and how he reacts to your lure.
47:17
You'll see them follow it, and then a lot of times you'll see them eat it.
47:52
Hasn't it? Hasn't it been pretty windy on the Delta?
45:43
What kind of rigs have you got set to go after stripers and
45:46
bass? Usually a couple with chatterbaits.
45:51
I've been catching a lot of them on a puzzle bait.
45:54
And I have a couple rods with ballsy swim baits on there and my flipping stick.
46:00
So that's what's been doing really good.
46:02
The puzzle bait's been catching a lot of fish.
46:05
I'm learning a lot about them.
47:08
Well, Alan, how long do you think your striper action is going to hold up out there? Is this what it's going to be the rest of the season now? Are we going to experience these a little bit larger than normal fish out there all the time?
43:51
And what's the story on him up there?
43:53
It's a good bite right now.
43:54
There's still a lot of fish that are spawning this last full moon.
43:59
My nephew was out there.
44:00
Bub got an eight and three quarter.
44:02
The tail was demolished.
44:04
It probably just got done spawning.
49:02
They're just not hitting it.
44:29
What's going on?
44:30
Yeah.
44:31
Um, Berryessa has been...
44:33
It's not, you know, I haven't been slaughtering them.
44:34
I mean, I caught my limit pretty easy.
44:37
Um, it's just, uh, you know, not, I haven't seen big schools of fish.
44:42
They're all, you know, couple here, couple there, and you just gotta cover a lot of water.
46:22
Yeah.
