So that's one thing I'm looking forward to when I get me home.
8:12
Enya worked really, really hard.
8:14
I mean, anybody who can now get a house in Ireland is working their bollocks off.
8:19
Enya works so hard.
8:21
I didn't think that we were going to be able to get her or you into the play.
8:25
And so basically for anybody going, what's this play? Myself and Carl Spain, who's a fabulous comedian, and I think we can all agree, what a joke writer.
8:33
Yeah.

Front
43:20
Mm-hmm
43:21
... for some reason that's not your own.
43:23
I know that if I don't get booked on TV, it's my own fault, and I know if I never play the 3Arena, it's my own fault.
43:29
That's one.
43:31
And two, I changed what I thought success was, and success I had narrowed down then to being three things: connection, creativity, and compassion.
43:43
And I thought, "If I can live a life, if I can look back when I'm 80 at a life that has been defined by those three things," 'cause as a little kid, I was always creative, always playing dress-up, always performing in the mirror.
43:58
Creative, you don't have to lose that.

Yeah

So what's the thinking behind Algorithm? What can audiences expect?
0:34
Well, listen, I wanted to go back to doing just a purely funny show.
0:38
You know, I wanted I had come back on stage after years of, you know, being off stage to my own fault and a lot of kind of serious things that happened in the interim.
0:49
And I had come back with a show a couple of years ago, three years ago called Al Porter Now.
0:54
that dealt with lots of things like getting sober and making amends and, you know, realizing where your life is after you've made a big mess of it and all that kind of stuff.
1:05
And then when it came to writing a second show to go back on stage, I thought, what do I want to do? And I really wanted to do one that was just funny, like from start to finish and didn't really delve into anything too seriously.
1:19
Um, But as I was sort of writing this, and I mean, I say writing it, you work it out by telling stories at small gigs and seeing if they're funnier.

There's not much you can do to appease them.
