Making Scary Movie and being a part of that whole thing has been such a Bow tie on, uh, like a vic- a triumph of that chapter in my life mentally.

Because when I got cast in Scary Movie, it was my first audition in LA.

I'd never done anything comedic.

I wasn't expecting to be successful in LA.

I decided to move here because I, uh, fell in love, developed a huge crush or whatever that was, on a dude, and wanted to dip my toe in.

And I got cast immediately in a comedy, which was something I'd never done.

... career's not dead, so I-

But I can understand really digging in your darkest hour for some sort of light making a lot of sense.

It's not like a grief like the loss of a pet or the loss of a, a close one or some- it's not a death.

It's more like a million different winces.

Like, you wince.

You spend, like, the first six months remembering that thing that you had, and that happens, like, a thousand times a day, so much so, and you can't bring it up all the time.

It's obnoxious, I suppose, but...

But, um, so for all of us to have all of that left at home, to meet in Australia, to have, to form these new friendships, to get to act with people that cracked me up every day-

I have a lot of experience not breaking on set.

Our directors, John and Scott, would give us a whole lot of freedom.

My kids were there and we were very lucky.

I, I wasn't naively in that way, but in every other way, and so when I made this decision, I managed to ...

I, you know, I didn't know anybody, but these y- young managers, I didn't know what a manager did, but agreed to represent me.

And they asked me to send in three audition tapes.... w- two for pilots, I think there were two pilots, and then one for a movie called Scream If You Know What I Did Last Halloween.

Mm-hmm.

Well, I figure if you take your kids to see a scary movie, then you won't have to give them the sex talk because we already did it.

feel for you returning to this unbelievable because I always thought I so the Wayans brothers after scary movie to had the franchise taken away.

I went on to do scary movie 3 and 4.

I wasn't invited to do scary movie 5 but Every few years, a studio executive would call my agent.

There was talk of a revival.

I always thought I would be a cameo and that I would get paid a lot, but not enough.

Oh, wow.

And then it became a huge thing, and it became absolutely defining of the next 26 years of my life.

And I always felt that, um, you know, LA didn't, I didn't understand kind of who I wa- I never felt strong comedically, at least in those early years.

And I w- I couldn't even get auditions for dramatic work, and I, um...

So for this movie to come back around with the Wayans brothers, 'cause I never got to thank them.

After, I, I wasn't even sure what happened.

There's a lot of amazing people out there.

Don't feel afraid to, like, feel your independence if, if not everything, uh, i- if things aren't right.

I made that mistake, I think, a little bit, like, feeling like, "I'm checking my relationship off the list." And, um, and I...

If that would be the, like, the final advice that I could give you, would be, like, know, know your worth, know your independence, know that you're young and there's so many people out there.

There's so m- there's so much life experience.

He li- he literally said it, like, in my ear as he was hugging me goodbye.

Well, I, I, yeah, I did think, like, I guess the logical thought is like, "All right, you guys, everyone, let's all perform like the, the dance that we've been practicing all summer, um, at 8:30 a.m. And f- and, like, before, like, the school flag, and we're gonna annoy everyone, but we're gonna do this shit, and like, you know, like a flash mob."

And then during that whole reproductive thing, she's, like, standing up there as a powerful woman, but she's not participating in the idea of...

And then she is, like, defiant about the idea of her own sexuality.
