In this first episode of my 3-part series on Seasons of Life, I’m sharing a personal and faith-filled conversation about what God may be doing in seasons of waiting. When life feels slow, quiet or…
And especially, you know, in today's world we live in, it's just shutting off the noise is incredibly hard.
It's a full on mental battle.
I know, like, trust me.
But for me, it was the season where God was showing me that I had been looking around way too much and over consuming way too much instead of looking up.
Like I was looking up way too little, you know, I was absorbing so much noise from the world that I was losing sight of what was right in front of me.
And one of the biggest things he began growing in me during that time was gratitude because gratitude helped me really see again and stop obsessing over what looked good out there and start paying attention to what was good right here in front of me.
It honestly helped me like see my family differently and appreciate the life I have and the people I've worked with instead of constantly measuring against someone else's highlight reel.
It helped me recognize that some of my frustration was coming from being spiritually distracted.
And I think that is a lot of us, you know, that what, what that feels like.
you're not necessarily doing anything wildly wrong.
You're just taking in so much noise that it becomes hard to hear God clearly, particularly in a season of waiting, because if you're always being pulled somewhere else to distract and numb the real issues, you will find it very hard to stay grounded and be present.
And you certainly won't have peace.
And for me, that was social media, but also work.
I could just work and work to my heart's desire to ignore what I really needed to go to God with.
So if that's where you are right now, I want to encourage you to with this, like, just because your season feels quiet, doesn't mean God isn't working.
And even when you feel planted, just know that it doesn't mean you've been buried.
Because there are seasons where God will lovingly slow us down, not to punish us, but to root us and get our attention.
so that He can rebuild our perspective and teach us how to live from a deeper place than comparison and performance and pressure.
And if I could say it so plainly, that's what I believe this season was for me.
God was pulling me out of the false world I had been staring at and bringing me back to what was true.
back to his word and into more gratitude, which is just a better, it's a more peaceful place all around.
And being back to seeing the people right in front of me, so that I could move into the version of me he was calling me to become.
So if you feel behind right now or overlooked or frustrated by how slow this season feels, just sis, do me a favor and say, but what does God say? In this season, I am not forgotten and waiting does not mean wasted, right? So ask God to just reveal to you what he wants you to know and how he wants you to move when the time is right.
