Which reminds me of Gardner, the first book we read, The Art of Fiction, where he was talking about the dream.
I mean, scenes are powerful because stuff is happening and you're watching people react.
Otherwise, you read a summary of something and it tells you stuff, but doesn't bring you into it.
There were a couple of really good quotes in there, but overall I found this to be more conversational than instructive.

If you were in a writing group, consider an occasional warm-up exercise of telling scenes no matter than three or four minutes each.
