In this episode of the Long Range Shooting and Custom Rifle Building Podcast, Wolf Precision founder Jamie Dodson talks about the future of custom rifles…
So gunsmithing, where it started from years ago and where it is now, custom rifles, where it started years ago and where it is now, it really has changed a lot.
And in a lot of ways, it's turned what was a craft and an art into almost like a sales pitch commodity.
The original gunsmith, in my mind, was someone who took an average factory rifle or a factory rifle that just wasn't shooting quite up to par, and they would go through, and they would customize or crown or machine.
Really, their craft was to bring that rifle up to another level and hand the customer something back that they could be proud of.
Custom gunsmithing was really about building a really high-quality rifle, maybe something a little unique, and handing it to the customer, maybe something they really couldn't purchase in a store.
And, you know, keep in mind, firearms have always been and will always be a great commodity in our market today.
We are constantly flooded now with, uh, what I consider almost like a sensory overload with all the different makes and models, even when you look at, like, the AR markets and, and .22 Long Rifle markets.
And I mean, we are the most, I would say, dumped on market in the world in the United States as far as every maker in the world sends their stuff here to dump it to our public.
