We spend so much of our lives waiting to be happy. Waiting until we're healthier, wealthier, more successful, or finally have everything figured out. But what if peace isn't something we find in the…
All right, so let's get into the art of contentment and how to find peace without waiting for your life to be perfect.
Like I said, I've been thinking about contentment a lot lately, not complacency, not settling and definitely not giving up on goals, but more about genuine contentment with where you're at in life, which is the ability to really appreciate where you are while still working towards where you want to be.
This topic came to mind because my husband and I have been, I've talked about this many times on this podcast, but we have been wanting to move for a few years now.
The house that we're living in right now was meant to be like a three-year flip.
We had three small babies when we bought this house.
Um, you know, one of them was sleeping with us and the others were so small that they were sharing a room and it was, it was great for what we were looking for.
And we wanted to flip it, make some good money on it, and then move to our more permanent home that had a bit more space for not just our family, but our extended family who were with all the time.
And right around the time that we got to a point where we could actually move, it was COVID.
And when COVID hit, the markets went crazy and we actually have, we live out in the country, we have a lot of property, some good space over here and more privacy.
And so we decided that would be a good time to not move when everything was shut down and everybody was working from home and all that.
And we decided to stay and long story short, we outgrew our home really, really quickly.
And then as COVID was kind of coming to an end, we decided, okay, this is perfect.
We can try to move.
Let's start looking for houses.
And then I gave birth to our fourth child who for like two and a half years straight had so many health complications that we were in and out of hospitals, in and out of like extremely stressful events and episodes with him.
Nothing, I had no capacity to try to look for houses let alone um pack up and try to move and stage and all that stuff in our home it was just absolute chaos and after he got to a point which is honestly like last year where he was more stable with his health and he could settle down a little bit we have been looking for a home to move to and there is pretty much nothing available and the move the has been so stressful for us because we really want to move.
We want more space, not to have a big house and all this, you know, fancy stuff.
Truthfully, we live far out from our family and we want to move.
So we're a lot closer to everybody while also having more space.
And we're willing to give up land, some land and property to have a larger home.
But it's been a very stressful time because nothing is coming up on the market.
Homes are really kind of stale where we're at right now.
And with the economy as crazy as it is here in Canada, anybody looking to buy or sell, it's just kind of a nightmare right now.
And I started to feel very impatient and frustrated not being able to move and feeling like, okay, we've really, really outgrown this house.
We've been here for 10 years when we were planning three and it just, it's a beautiful home and we're so grateful for it.
