What our President did to Ukraine and for Russia is Exhibit A in disgraceful cowardice. In a naked attempt to minimize GOP losses in next month’s midterms, Trump threatened Ukraine’s very survival…
[upbeat music] Donald Trump's bizarre embrace of autocrats and insistence on destroying generations of coalitions with our allies is by now hardly news.
No expert thinks this shameful deal will actually make a material difference when it comes to Americans' pain at the pump, but even if it did, would this be the price of our national soul? Consider the conditions of this so-called deal.
He threatened and followed through on stopping of shared intelligence with Ukraine that has already led to missile attacks in Kyiv that Ukrainians weren't alerted to.
Trump ordered Ukraine not to attack Russian refineries while sitting mute as Russia attacks power plants, leaving nearly a million Ukrainians without power as the temperatures begin to chill.
Trump said nothing again after Russian bombing raids left scores of children dead.
The Kremlin thinks so little of our president that despite Trump prostrating himself for Putin, the Russian president again treated the Donald like a fool, not only disregarding the only condition of an energy ceasefire, but defiantly stating that the White House doesn't set rules when it comes to engagement.
Now, if you're asking why the United States would ever do such an un-American thing, something so morally bankrupt and against our national self-interest, you, my friends, are asking the right question.
A non-bankrupt Russian economy would allow multiple business deals with Trump-related companies to go forward.
These include the Nord Stream gas pipelines that Jared Kushner just coincidentally is knee-deep in, mineral mining in the Arctic, unfreezing Russian assets in European banks, and on and on.
The consequences of this grotesqueness is not just the abandonment of an ally and awarding the kind of oppressor we historically held to account, it also sends the world several chilling messages.
Enriching this president and friends, that's now more important than the world order, or for that matter, our word.
When Ukrainian President Zelensky was asked if what Trump did equated to betrayal, he stated the obvious.
