Four frontier AI models dropped in just four days from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Meta, while ChatGPT ads crossed $1 billion in annual revenue. In Episode 90 of What the AI?!, Jeff Keltner and…
Annie DelgadoHostAll the big labs this week dropped big new models all in about the span of four days.
People were saying they should have numbered it Fable 6 because it was a pretty meaningful change from 5.
It does seem like Fable is up at the top on, I guess I have one benchmark, artificial analysis, put out Fable at 66, the highest ever score on that benchmark.
But the real interesting one to me was Fable and Astra, both around $10 per million input tokens, $50 per million output tokens.
So like really a lot less expensive, maybe a little bit less capable, but man, the big delta here was not just the increase in capability, but you've got kind of two categories of price almost now in terms of what it costs to run these models.

And it's it's crazy to think about the capability because like you like it really is a little less capable.

So, you know, a lot of us might think intuitively, like if we're going to spend money on something, we want the latest and greatest.

But then you think about the Gemini or the Muse and it's like that's really like the technology from six months ago and like six months ago was still pretty good.

It got drastically cheaper for the model that six months ago was all cutting edge and, you know, the edge of the frontier and all that kind of stuff.
