Shanil LalGuestIt's an interesting conversation because as property prices, gentlemen, and asset prices are ballooning all over Australia, it is becoming so much harder for people into the market.
And one of the common alternative ways that I hear, especially from a lot of the children of the clients I manage, is they're looking to buy together as brother and sister or brothers or even cousins, I've seen, a way of making their deposits go further and being able to buy bigger and better properties.
But it's important you understand the difference between joint tenants and tenants in common.
It's important to understand the finance risks and how it works moving forward with your own portfolios if you do want to break apart or go down your own path later on in the future while maintaining that joint asset.
And Shanil mentioned that if something does happen and one of you do go into business later on in the future or one of your family, siblings go into business later on in the future that you might be exposed to any potential level of risk from their business if it does fail.
When you buy something together, you're much in a business partnership together.
