Can two moms stay best friends when their daughters aren't getting along? In our very first episode, we dive into the one rule that's helped our friendship survive years of parenting: **we stay out…
I think the most pressing topic we should start with is one that a lot of moms we know are going through, that you and I have gone through.
We have for many years now.
And I think we've gotten really
good at
managing
it without it affecting our friendships.
yes so it's our children are almost 13 and they've been friends since they were five ish kindergarten yeah yeah i guess what a lot of people are going through is they're both girls they're both alpha personalities they're both strong ladies and they butt heads all the time like they're like best friends and then they are enemies they're literally yeah every day it's like we joke sometimes we'll be like should we invite the girls do they like each other today or do
we just keep us where are they today what what's are they fighting are they happy today it's already hard enough being in middle school and then you add on just being a girl but also hormones and these two girls are very opinionated and this is what i love about them they're not scared to say if they don't want to do something or don't like something
They don't
tiptoe around the person to save the friendship, which I think will be great for them at some point.
You don't have to walk on eggshells with your best friend.
No, and I don't think you should.
But I think that's also why they butt heads a lot is because they both...
They know what they want.
Yep.
They know what they want.
They aren't going to take any bullshit from anyone.
And if they don't like it, you're going to hear it.
And that's hard with two personalities that are the same.
Because usually one friend will give in more or one will keep the peace.
I think you and I have learned just over the years getting involved does nothing.
It makes it worse, actually.
Absolutely.
Like moms, I feel like, want to help or they want to talk to the other parent or they want to – try to mend things.
But then it's almost like you're trying to force kids to get along when that, I feel like, always backfires.
