A few of my therapists resigned this spring. Looking back at our KPI scorecard, the warning had been sitting there in plain sight for months, and I had missed it completely. In this episode, I'm…
Laura Park-FigueroaHostSo what if I told you there was a number you could track in your business that would tell you in advance who on your team might quit in the near future, well before they actually turn in their letter of resignation? I am absolutely not talking about a hypothetical.
That is something I discovered in my own business just recently by looking at our data.
And I had a situation this spring where I had several therapists resign within a very short period of time.
And when I did their exit interviews and got to know the reasons behind their resignations, I realized that people leave your business and leave your team for all different kinds of reasons.
I'm not sure if there's anything I could have done to prevent any of these people from leaving.
However, I did notice, in retrospect, when I was analyzing data on the KPI scorecard that we have all of our therapists put different metrics into every month before our staff meeting, i noticed that the employees who quit were employees who consistently rated their satisfaction in their work in my practice at a three out of five month after month and those were the people the exact people who resigned at the end of the year and it was very clear in the data it was very clear that that number meant something I didn't see that coming emotionally.
I didn't see the indication that any of these people were going to resign.
But the numbers were there telling me and my leadership team the whole time that this might be about to happen.
KPI stands for Key Performance Indicator, and it tells you a lot of times what your gut or your heart is too overwhelmed or too close to the situation to see.
In this episode, I'm going to talk with you about what a KPI dashboard can do for your business and why we built one in my practice.
I'll give you some examples of things that we track and things to think about for your own business.
