Well Women Business Podcast - Grow Your Health or Wellness Business with Dr. Laura Park Figueroa
Jul 1, 2026 · 16 min · 8 segments
When I was building the website for this podcast, I *almost* completely forgot the most basic marketing principle I know. In this episode, I'm sharing the one idea that changes everything about how…
Laura Park-FigueroaHostI read his book called Blue Like Jazz, which was kind of a... story about his Christian faith.
It's a really interesting book and how he was trying to integrate his faith with life in the modern world and interact with people who didn't think like him.
Loved him long before he wrote his two most popular books now in the business space, which are called Building a Story Brand and Marketing Made Simple.
I think he also has a few others like Business Made Simple and other ones, but the two that I highly recommend are Marketing Made Simple and Building a Story Brand.
So his whole idea is that you need to position yourself in your marketing as if you are a guide, not the hero, the customer is the hero, and you as the person helping them along in their journey are the guide.
So I recently listened to one of his podcasts and had a light bulb moment because I realized that as I was building the website for this new endeavor, for this podcast, for Well Women Business, I was completely forgetting the main principle, which is that even your About Me page on your website should not really be about you.
Your website and even your About Me page on your website exists to show your ideal client that you understand them and that you can be their guide, not for you to tell your life story or why you started the business and all the things that you want to share.
My old about me page was talking all about like things I love to do, like the exercise I like to do and how I love to make kombucha and just things that y'all don't care about if you're going to work with someone who's a business coach or a leader of a retreat or something that you're going to.
What you care is that I can help you, that I can help guide you to get to the next level in your business and get you to that seven figure mark like we always talk about on this podcast.
So The thing that you need to remember, this is the number one tip that you need to remember, is that your website cannot be all about you.
Every single word that you put on your website needs to be viewed through the lens of what your customer, your ideal customer, not anyone in the world, not your mom, not your best friend, not your partner, but what would your ideal customer, the person you are seeking to serve, think when they read those words on your website? So the thing to remember is that you are not talking about yourself.
The word that you need to remember is you, you, you, you, not us, us, us, or me, or I, okay? That is the tip.
And we're going to talk about why this matters specifically for health and wellness businesses that we are all running.
And also three practical ways that you can go to your own website right now and do a quick little audit to see if there are small tweaks that you could make that might actually have a really significant impact on the conversion of your website.
