Send us Fan Mail In week two of the “Speak Life” series, Pastor Ashley explores the power of our words, focusing on the harm caused by gossip…
So first, and this is a rhetorical question, I am curious how this past week's challenge went.
Those of you who were here last week or who were worshiping last week and are aware of the challenge, the challenge was to corner criticism and not say anything critical.
This past week, how did that go? Oh, see, it was rhetorical, but okay.
But you've answered.
Thank you.
It's a journey, right? I think I said that.
Well, so for those of you who found it to be a challenge in every sense of the word, is it fair to say that maybe what you identified is the need to pause more? Maybe you observed a need to pause more, to stop.
Yeah, to stop.
Stop.
I don't know, maybe you identified something else, but I think that that is typically what we learn when we're trying to control our tongue and we're paying attention, right? We, oh, I need to stop for a second.
I need to just take a pause.
And in general, I think that's just a good practice in general.
And it's a practice that, especially as we think about growing on this Christian journey and really growing in the use of our words and our ability to speak life, it's a practice that will only continue to help us, especially this week, because this week we're adding to the challenge, right? So this week, not only are we going to corner criticism, but this week we're also going to harness hearsay.
