Market Close 9/8/26

Rising oil prices once again are taking a toll on markets as Iran teases that it's close to a deal with Oman to manage traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Dow lost 626 points, or 1%.

The S&P fell 44.

The Nasdaq dropped 85.

A barrel of Brent crude briefly climbed as high as $99, but gave up some of its gains to settle at 97%.

In the bond market, the yield in the 10-year Treasury inched up to 4.79% and remains near its highest level since the fall of 2023.

Boston Scientific fell 5% after admitting that a cybersecurity incident caused a network outage earlier this summer, and it'll mean the company is unlikely to meet forecasts it gave for sales and profit.

On the winning end was Qualcomm, which rose 3% after announcing a deal to collaborate with Amazon on large-scale AI data centers.

Meadow launched a personal artificial intelligent agent, Muse, for those over 18 looking for help with day-to-day tasks.
