**What if building an 8-figure company isn’t just about what you build… but who you become while building it?** ✨ Episode Summary In this episode of **Voices of Impact**, I’m excited to welcome…
Cherie HoegerGuestA very powerful conversation.
So
advice would you give, especially female purpose-driven entrepreneurs who I've been talking to, who are like, you know, built a successful business, right? All the awards, all the titles, but they now want to shift into building a purpose, right? So it's going the other way.
And what would you say to them? And that they're kind of afraid that purpose will come at the expense of profit.

You have to be very intentional about making sure that you do have profit because no margin, no mission.

So if your purpose is to build a nonprofit, then that's a nonprofit, right? You're not looking for profit.

And in that case, then you have to be good at fundraising and you have to partner with people who believe in your cause and your mission individually.

But I have talked to a lot of people who've started nonprofits who get into it for the impact and then realize, I spent all my time fundraising, and it's not what I love to do.

But you need it often to be able to, to pull off your cause, whatever it is, unless it's service based only.

So one of the best methods you can do if you are a nonprofit is to partner with someone like us at Salt who are a certified B Corp that has an impact mission.

It has funds to allocate to incredible nonprofits that we partner with to be able to create the impact that we do.

So what we do best is creating products that change lives and we have to partner with incredible nonprofits that can then distribute those products and tell the stories about those products and capture those moments and then also inspire be able to make that impact that we make together so it's a partnership so that's another route you can go the other route you can go is doing exactly what salt's done and that is being a for-profit company that has a mission and with that you have to realize that you will make trade-offs that if you are a for-profit company you need to make sure that that bottom line comes first and foremost so that you have the
profits to be able to allocate towards your purpose

But I can say from being successful at caring about a mission and driving it forward, you can do that.

Again, you're scaling, but instead of scaling with team members, you're scaling with those outside partnerships that you can still be a part of.
