So Paul is in a very, very practical section of his discourse to the Colossian believers.

He's talked about our identity in Christ being chosen and holy and beloved in him.

And now he's giving us some instruction about how to appropriate our true identity into our living.

And this is really the goal of all of our faith is to take what we know and to live it out.

As we talk about that in the academy, you know, how do you how do you translate and transfer truth, deep truth that you learn about God and his word and theology? And how do you, you know, make that into real living? And so we talk about how to do that.

And He's already said in verse 14, and beyond all these things, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

I love this because he's told us to put on forgiveness in verse 13, to forgive each other.

the assembly he's talking about the bride of christ the body of christ and the one of the missing ingredients sometimes in the body of christ is just a true demonstration of love and we need that in the body of christ what does that do well it covers up some of our differences and some of our quirkiness for example i've often told people it's like you know you go to a church right and you're like, you know, some of the people at church I probably wouldn't invite over for barbecue, you know, that's OK.

You don't have to like everybody and like their style and you know who they are, what they do.

And I was just like, well, for that reason, I'm out, okay? Obviously, God doesn't do that.
