Ending the Cycle

My name is Emily Mace.

I use she, her pronouns, and I'm the intern minister here at Unity Temple.

And this has been a morning for talking about some heavy things, some hard topics.

But this is a place of witness and of truth telling.

And I want to just invite you and remind you as you're watching online or here in the sanctuary to remember what you might need to do to keep yourself grounded if that is something that is helpful to you.

And if anything that you're hearing is triggering or difficult, as Maureen shared earlier, the ministerial team and the spiritual care team are here to talk with you and be a listening presence at any time.

And, of course, after the service, if you need to look for something beautiful, if you need to go take a jump in the lake, if you need to smell a flower, don't forget to do that as well.

Because small acts are important, especially when we are facing such a heavy and difficult topic.

That kind of healing action is something I know well myself from the shooting in Highland Park in 2022, and that's where I'd like to start this morning.
