Today Peter, Kelly, David, and Jenni have a conversation about building your team and reducing turnover, by retaining your workers or hiring the best new ones, and how to go about it.
So last night I was over here with one of my doctors, Dr. Brittany.
She was on call last night.
and we were chatting and she was talking about how when she speaks to class members that she graduated with or other people, they are always shocked that she is still at the same practice that she started at.
And she was a brand new grad.
She didn't do any externships.
She came right from school to us.
And she, you know, it's like, yeah, and I have no plans on leaving.
You know, I love this place.
and on and on.
And they're constantly shocked about it.
And we were talking about why that is, because she also has talked to like some of our volunteers who have moved to other states and they've already left the vet clinic they were at, usually because they're not being utilized.
And so Dr. Brittany and I were talking about part of the reason that she feels like it works so well.
So she'll be 12 years next month with us.
Dr. Kim is 13 years this month.
Dr. Robin will be 18 years in December.
Wow.
So, yeah.
So, you know, and then I've got my new grad who will be a year in August, but, but it was just an interesting conversation because she said, you know, she was talking to a volunteer and they were like, oh yeah, I left my clinic.
They made me want to leave that med because of how I was treated.
And as a technician or not, she's not a credential technician.
She's like an assistant.
Um, but they weren't like letting her do anything and they were talking down to her and all this.
And Dr. Brittany said, you know, part of the reason that she stayed is because of our team, because we have, she knows everybody, they know her, they can trust each other.
There's a good flow.
And because we don't have all of that turnover.
