**Era 2: Stitch by Stitch — Liby Tolm of Elite Knitting and Looking Friday** From Kazakhstan to New York to Austin, Liby Tolm has spent 14 years turning yarn into art and building a fashion house…
What I loved about getting together in pandemic, I started to do a little get together for the community here so that, because I feel like there's so many different communities everywhere, but we don't know about the existence.
Like we're siloed in our own spaces and like, we don't know what's happening outside of it.
I love that because I also think that go for it Dawn
So I was going to add on to it.
So knitting.
And so I'll start with myself.
So I've crocheted before.
Granted, you know, men don't really crochet and knit.
But I secretly on the podcast admission found it to be very interesting and very fun, actually.
And the one of the most proudest things that I've ever done is that I crocheted my own scarf.
I think it's crocheted my own scarf.
Oh, I love
that, Don.
And unfortunately, that scarf has been lost to some moving box somewhere in some place in some city in the U.S.
But I remember I was like 10 years old and I had a family friend of mine, an older lady named Barbara, who sat me down and was like, I'm going to teach you how to do this.
So I'm doing it.
as a little kid and i was like this is actually pretty fun so i was like wait so you mean i can just like do this and make scarves and sweaters so in my mind i was like oh yeah i'm about to be the next i don't like tom ford or gucci or back in the day and i'm out here like knitting stuff but then i didn't get i didn't have i mean you need yarn and everything else of that nature so after i moved off uh from my family friend and that kind of went back to mine and i've never picked up a well and that's not never because i've i've sewn a few things here and there and i think i did tell you about that loss and i sold back my my watch strap but for are you living like what are some of your do you when you sit down and you're about to make a garment is it more so i have to make one because work related or when you're doing one for fun like how do you what is your creative process i i know you don't use synthetic fibers and things of that nature but what is your kind of your method in your your process and your outlook when you you're in your creative space
There's actually a lot of men who crochet and they're doing so well and you should pick it up.
